Business Review did a good article on Siena's NIL effort....which Smitty referenced in his interview with Sezenack as having contacted in learning more about NIL setups... You need a subscription to read the full story. https://www.bizjournals.com/albany/n...eness-nil.html
"...The strategy is showing early signs of success, as Saints March On has helped both women’s and men’s basketball players sign deals with companies like Hannoush Jewelers, Yankee Trails and Lia Auto Group, among others.....
....NIL collectives, like Saints March On, operate independently of their associated college, which allows for donors, fans and boosters to raise money and broker sponsorships for student-athletes....
.....While Saints March On started its focus on the men’s and women’s basketball teams, the collective is finding ways to support other student-athletes too. They recently partnered with myNILpay — a Venmo-like platform that lets fans send payments to any student-athlete...."

I see the 2023-24 hockey roster is now posted at rpiathletics, so I guess by now they know for sure which freshmen have shown up.

That's a surprise. Murphy was an assistant for the Bentley and SLU men's teams. A former HE player at Maine, he spent 10 years as an assistant at Bentley followed by a handful at SLU and then returned to Bentley last year as the Associate HC. He was let go when the HC resigned after a disappointing season. Given his track record (moving up the food chain from Bentley to SLU and then being hired back with a promotion) one would think he was reasonably well regarded. Worst case I would have thought someone with those credentials would take one of the new slots opened for an extra assistant at a men's program. Maybe he wanted to try the women's game instead. In any case it will hopefully be a plus for the women's program.
