  • Atlantic Hockey and College Hockey America to merge in 2024

    https://www.uscho.com/2023/06/06/atl...hockey-season/

Thoughts? Probably not much will change for starters, except at the branding level. Would this be an incentive for, say, Syracuse to add men's hockey, or (say) Canisius to add women's? Or for Niagara to bring women's hockey back?

This also raises the question of naming: Go with the more widely known "Atlantic Hockey"? Use "College Hockey America" as more geographically accurate? Or pick a new name entirely?

    No, no, and no.

But does Lindenwood men end up in AHA?

I think they already settled on Atlantic Hockey as the name going forward.

      Why not?

I don't see the eastern teams being eager to add another plane trip.

That wasn't mentioned in the press release.

Maybe add a couple of more teams in the East/ New England and split into two divisions

The new commissioner said they have not picked a new name.

Slap Shot - 444 might want to consider a restraining order.
dggoddard - Minnesota is THE ELITE Program in all of college hockey.
wasmania - you have to be the very best to get ice time with the great gophers!

Splitting is not an option at this point, as there's a moratorium on new single-sport conferences.
