hey if I'm MS7 I'm using them as an example of what #8 really is capable of...Im being serious here....

Finished 43 points behind Boston...19 behind the Canes.

Now it's up the Bruce Cassidys Vegas Knights to stop 'em
if they get by the Stars which seems likely.

Our UNH NHL connection for this year has come to an end.

    Anyone seen a schedule yet?
Just the home and home with UMass-Flagship. Maybe August for the rest of schedule?

Just spent a few days in Rochester (a week before the PGA - drats, crap planning!!) and the city was pretty pumped by the Calder Cup run of the Americans, who have since advanced to the Eastern Finals against arch-rivals Hershey. Not that the place hasn't seen better days, what with the demise of former titans Kodak, Xerox and others, but it's still got Schenectady beat by a country mile. Plus there is a five-star Dinosaur BBQ that overlooks the scenic Genessee River in downtown, short walk to the arena. Fun place. Shame about the NY Thruway, though.

My NHL picks have been radioactive this Spring, with Carolina finally meeting its match, there's no claim to any insight here this time around. If you're a Bruins' fan, who do you root for now? Keith Tkachuk and the evil Florida Panthers, or Coach Cassidy's Vegas Golden Knights? Not that I have a dog in this fight, but don't you almost have to root FOR Coach Cassidy, against the evil in-conference rival Panthers? Or do you take some solace in the argument that the B's pushed the Panthers to 7 games, and neither Toronto (5) or Carolina (4) even came close?

FWIW 'Ref ... you tried to draw a serious parallel between the 8th seed Panthers and a future MS7-coached UNH team, kind of as an inspiration thing. I get what you're trying to say, but keep in mind (1) Florida won the President's Cup last year - best RS record in the NHL - so they were not your typical #8 seed; (2) NHL 8 seeds tend to be over .500 teams, not cellar-dwellers like our recent 'Cats have been; and (3) there are no Keith Tkachuk, Sasha Barkov or Sergei Bobrovsky comparisons currently skating for UNH. Just because HEA goes through the charade of their MBPGEGAM "playoffs" doesn't make the bottom of the HEA barrel comparable to an NHL 8th playoff seed that was only as low as 8th because of underperforming for the first 4 months of the season.

But it's Souza's ship he's riding to the bottom, so he gets to handle the messaging ...

          • The UNH hockey coaching tree is a weed compared to the UNH football version.

            https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...h-joe-philbin-analyst

"The hire shows a continued effort by Ohio State under head coach Ryan Day to add football brainpower to the building, a stated effort that began after the loss to Alabama in the national title game following the 2020 season."

The plum is Tyson Dyck, but I'm guessing they have eyes for better schools. Do you think the Canadian's GM is going to send his son to UNH to develop?

Unless, of course, you think it's all the same ... ?!?

Players develop at UNH...this is something we throw around alot here. In your (and others) mind...what does player development really mean? They are better than they were when they come in? They go pro?

Surely it means more than meeting their future partners...

I don't know, not a threat to my masculinity in either case. But then again, anything that causes people to drink less Bud Lite is also good, so.....

As for development, you may be right. I've always railed against great teams being development machines, ignoring that they get all the great players and probably have the same development percentage as a bad team that gets bad players. Think Alabama football as an example.
But they do get more exposure, and in a word of mouth sport, probably get more opportunities. Mac Jones at U.Illinois is a fourth round pick.
Right now the NCHC and Big 10 seem all the rage.

                    20-21 10th place

I think that this past year’s Captain was the rare exception where a player at UNH played better (scored more points) than his previous seasons. There must be others over the past decade, but I think that they are few and far between. To me that means that our coaching staff has not been developing players on the ice.

It may surprise some on here, but I've cut WAY back on my past Fox viewing in the last 30 days, when Fox went RINO. Unfortunately, the freaks gotta keep freakin', so since you're not a WSJ guy either Snives, here's some stuff from a suitably "old school" California guy named Victor Davis Hanson, which may enlighten some folks who prefer your propaganda straight-up from the MSM, which has given most of this stuff a good stern leaving alone:

Anyone up for a fun summertime story?

I saw he was in portal, it's a shame they went with another 20 year old that had 39 points in 100 games in the USHL over the last 2 years. Maybe he'll be a surprise and prove me wrong.

If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that on this board about any aspect of UNH Hockey over the last 8+ years, I'd have retired comfortably 3 years ago. And no one has been proven wrong BTW ...

Aw, c'mon Chuck. For all of the lamenting you did last year when we picked up Ryan Black from Babson, didn't he at least raise your eyebrows somewhat? :-)
