Should I be concerned that RPI commit Easton Adrian retweeted this? He and commit Dylan Lariviere liked it as did numerous formerly players as well as Sezenack. :-D ;-)
I wouldn't be too concerned. I was hoping he'd stay, but I don't begrudge any graduate the chance to expand their horizons by moving on after 4 years and I think most players recognize the unique situation these days. Ryan said all the right things in his departure announcement and he was leaving with an A on his jersey and as a member of the leadership team. He was probably also involved with those recruits and others during campus visits. It's actually a positive sign to me that they felt comfortable wishing him well.

UConn had a pretty good day yesterday - getting Ryan and then winning a basketball game. I've only attended a few UConn hockey games over the years but I'll definitely have to get up to the new Toscano rink next season - wearing RPI gear of course.

I am somewhat concerned about Adrian. I had already written off Mahshie. Then again, I don't think that Sezenack is becoming a UConn fan. :-)

There was a local to RPI connection in the basketball game. UConn's Andre Jackson played his high school ball at Albany Academy.

sezenack may be using his extra year of COVID eligibility to cover UConn. ;-)

              • It's been 69 years since a team beat Michigan in the NCAA semifinal and then Minnesota in the final. Those who follow this thread might be able to guess which team accomplished that feat.

Quinnipiac is halfway to duplicating it.

Do you think they should sleep in oxygen tanks before the game this weekend?

                        • Just coming back from Tampa. What a fun trip. Quinnipiac did a great job. Played great positional hockey, got great goaltending, and the coaches made outstanding in game adjustments to shut Minnesota down. Great Pecknold got his first trophy. And Jake Johnson played great. Congrats to him!

                          • Quinnipiac is the blueprint for how smaller schools need to compete for national championships in this era. A mix of talent, experience, speed, conditioning and playing your system to a T. They completely dominated Minnesota with their forechecking and smothering neutral zone play.

Having an older, experienced roster absolutely helps. QU had about a dozen seniors and graduate students that played like men. Jake Johnson is a great example. I doubt any of the powerhouses gave him much of a look coming out of juniors, but he improved every year with us and, after his excellent performance last night, it's obvious that pattern continued this season. Adding in some outstanding young players like Graf, Lipkin and Quillan and a top-notch goalie like Perets made for an outstanding team that played with no fear against extremely talented opponents.

Quinnipiac played great and are deserving winners, but there was something about the Minnesota game plan, especially in that third period, that was way off. Kinda played to Q’s strengths instead of trying to leverage their own speed. Even still, the Gophers were just a minute away from winning it.
