1) He was injured as he’s undergoing off-season surgery.
2) The coach apparently wanted him back as they were awaiting his decision.
From a Lowell Sun post-season chat with the coach:
”He wasn’t sure about three other seniors, Brian Chambers, Jake Stella and Ryan Brushett, who’s about to undergo surgery.”
As for Regula, he seems like an ideal replacement for Klee (RH, defense-oriented). We still need at least one more d-man, preferably a young guy with multiple years of eligibility.
if by some miracle Ryan Mahshie decided to return I’d pick us for the top 4 right now (key note: I expect we are going to see something closer to freshman year Watson than the version we just saw). Unfortunately, I think once guys file they are gone. Are there any examples of guys that entered the portal at any Division 1 hockey program and then returned?

Scholarships are actually year to year. Although it's not a good practice IMO, a coach can pull it at the end of any year. In the case of a kid entering the portal the scholarship is at least guaranteed through the end of the current semester but can be offered to other players (portal or freshman) for next season. On the other hand, if they think they have a chance to retain the kid, a coach could theoretically re-recruit him while holding off on awarding those scholarship dollars in case they are successful. I'd imagine that would be a fairly rare instance as I'm not aware of it happening outside of football, where there are a couple of thousand portal entrants per year.

It was probably a very good thing to have an orthodontist as a father when any of us were young hockey players! Would have loved to chat with his mom - always wanted to know how they shrunk those things down. (it is the off season for us and I am already bored)

Credit goes to Iowabasedtraveler ( a great guy) on the Colgate thread for finding info on what schools are investing in their program. Even if mot 100% accurate I'd be willing to be it isn't far off.

[QUOTE=iowabasedtraveler;n3803193]From the 'More Questions than it Answers' Department...
Josh Hewitt on the Big Ten Hockey Facebook page posted a graphic of expenditures of NCAA D-1 MIH programs.
Here are a couple...
1., North Dakota, $5,453,864,
2., Minnesota, $5,269,203,
3., Notre Dame, $5,198,263
4., Michigan, $4,464,256,
5., Boston College, $4,360,627,
21., Quinnipiac, $3,029,101,
23., Clarkson, $2,630,662,
25., RPI, $2,563,477,
27., Saint Lawrence, $2,547,264,
31., Colgate, $2,423,063,
38., Yale, $2,073,478,
41., Cornell, $1,990,819,
51., Harvard, $1,374,610,
52., Brown, $1,363,881,
53., Dartmouth, $1,353,890,
56., Princeton, $1,133,425,
57., Union, $1,049,322.
From me, "I see 57 programs listed. What was the last year that NCAA had 57 men's D-1 ice hockey programs? If it is more current than that, what programs are not included (and why)? More specifically, what year does it supposedly represent? And what exactly goes into those numbers? Thanks."
From Josh, "It’s all the schools that have the records for expenses for the Men’s hockey program available and includes all expenditures for the program. Salaries, rink maintenance, travel, etc….
GopherPuckLive periodically puts together an article to compare where Minnesota is compared to the rest of college hockey. Here is an article from 2018 as an example with additional info."
"The data I posted above is for this season. I don’t know if he is going to put together an article with further breakdown or not, but you should probably be able to find the data for your program in public records."
While I still question a lot about the specifics of this ranking, it probably does fairly accurately show the basic differences between the expenditures of the Big Ten (and other) conference programs and those of the ECAC Hockey conference.

Missed this yesterday. Ryan Mahshie committed to UConn. https://twitter.com/RTM_8_/status/1642926867387756545
Should I be concerned that RPI commit Easton Adrian retweeted this? He and commit Dylan Lariviere liked it as did numerous formerly players as well as Sezenack. :-D ;-)
