Reporting processes vary so much from school to school that you cannot compare these apples to apples.
For example, the Ivies don't have athletic scholarships, which is why they are all so low. But they all give massive amounts of aid (more than 18 scholarships worth). If you factored those in, they would all easily be above RPI. That's just one example.
I take it with a pound of salt as well as some pepper. ;-D

Really?? More like a 7-12 forward. His 3rd school in 5 years is a red flag!
I've been lost since 1989. I got a breakaway on a frozen pond and have been skating ever since.

Maybe. As stated by Mike McMahon he did quite well two years ago at UML but suffered from injury the past year. He could be a top-6 forward.

I am still concerned that we need help on defense.

In what world is a forward with 57 career points in the NCHC and Hockey East a bottom 6 forward???

I very much disagree that it's a red flag. Most 5th years in the portal didn't have offers to return to their schools, and I bet that was the case with him.

We do need help on defense. I'd expect portal commitments will be coming there too

I'm guessing there are also the costs associated with operating and maintaining a very large and aged facility. I'm sure this is not cheap. I wonder how these costs compare with, say, Colgate's Class of 1965 Arena.

We'll see. Ok. So you're saying he had to transfer because UMass Lowell didn't offer him a spot for next year? You're proving my point. If he was valuable to UMass Lowell, do you not think they would have kept him?

Brian Chambers was 2nd among UML's forwards in points, and they didn't even keep him. I think they just don't have room.

It was probably a very good thing to have an orthodontist as a father when any of us were young hockey players! Would have loved to chat with his mom - always wanted to know how they shrunk those things down. (it is the off season for us and I am already bored)

                              Two notes on Brushett:
                              1) He was injured as he’s undergoing off-season surgery.
                              2) The coach apparently wanted him back as they were awaiting his decision.

From a Lowell Sun post-season chat with the coach:
”He wasn’t sure about three other seniors, Brian Chambers, Jake Stella and Ryan Brushett, who’s about to undergo surgery.”

As for Regula, he seems like an ideal replacement for Klee (RH, defense-oriented). We still need at least one more d-man, preferably a young guy with multiple years of eligibility.

if by some miracle Ryan Mahshie decided to return I’d pick us for the top 4 right now (key note: I expect we are going to see something closer to freshman year Watson than the version we just saw). Unfortunately, I think once guys file they are gone. Are there any examples of guys that entered the portal at any Division 1 hockey program and then returned?

I think, and somebody correct me if I am wrong, once a player enters the portal, whatever scholarship they had ends and can be immediately offered to someone else. Of course, a player that enters the portal can come back; whether a scholarship is available is another matter.
