The Futile Four will be held in the abandoned DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, MI. With the basketball court in place.

I'm on the phone with Episcopalian and Lutheran churches in the Grand Rapids area. They are happily providing 2 week old coffee and equally aged pastries for the Futile Four.

After careful consideration, the NoWinS site has been determined. Games will be played at the site of the wreckage of the SS Emperor, a freighter which sank off Canoe Rocks in 1947. The abandoned lifeboat wreckage on shore will serve as the locker room facility. Communication will be provided by a war surplus weather radio transmitter using outdated VHF technology. Teams will each be given a paper map, a half-charged 12 volt battery, and a 40 year old Lowrance system salvaged from a Thunder Bay junkyard to get themselves to the tournament.

Miss Thundercat will observe the action from the deck of the USCGC Spar, the Coast Guard Cutter assigned to western Lake Superior from its port in Duluth.
