I thought it would be fun to have a place to talk about us independents. I will do a weekly ranking and players of the week as well as end of year awards. Alaska, Alaska-Anchorage, Arizona State, Lindenwood, and Long Island will play anywhere from 9 to 16 games against each other or Stonehill.

Week 2
Another impressive week for Lindenwood against top competition. They don’t seem to struggle scoring goals, excited to see how they do against Air Force this week. A couple splits for the Sun Devils and Nanooks in the state of Minnesota and a win and tie for the Sharks of LIU.
Team of the Week. Arizona State Sun Devils
With their first ever win in the state of Minnesota, Arizona State shutout the Beavers on Friday night 3-0. Saturday the Sun Devils never held a lead, but tied the game three times before falling 5-4 in overtime.
Forward of the week
Anthony Vincent of LIU. 3 goals including the game tying goal Saturday at #7 Quinnipiac
Defenseman of the week
Derek Hamelin of UAA. 3 assists
Goalie of the week
T. J. Semptimphelter of ASU. 80 saves on 85 shots. 40 save shutout on Friday.

I went to the BSU - ASU games. Was a fun series, nice arena, nice fans. Unfortunately the week prior ASU lost to Duluth in overtime also. ASU landed a very good goalie portal transfer along with a couple other players.

One of only 4 home games tonight vs. Air Force. Should be interesting!

Since the start of that season 934 times teams have fallen behind by 4+ goals and since the UML comeback 308 teams have done so (4 other times teams have managed to get a comeback tie). A great first win that will likely not be forgotten.

They head east this weekend so I will get to see them in person

Week 3
Arizona State begins the Mullet arena era with a shutout win over Colgate before losing in a shutout the following night. Lindenwood gets their first win and Anchorage gets a sweep over UNLV in two very different games. Long Island loses another close game and my Nanooks drop two at home.
Team of the week. Lindenwood Lions
Down 6-2 at the midway mark on Friday, the Lions scored 5 straight goals to take their first D1 win. Though outshot 45-22 by the Falcons, Lindenwood kept finding the back of the net. Air Force took game two 5-3, but the Lions offense continues to impress.
Forward of the week
Andy Willis of Lindenwood 1 goal 3 assists
Defenseman of the week
Joe Prouty of Lindenwood 3 assists
Goalie of the week
TJ Semptimphelter of ASU
68 saves on 72 shots. Shutout on Friday

Was tough to watch that stretch and probably would have turned it off if I didn't have a dog in the fight - so glad I stuck with it.
AIC should be a another test for the road warriors this weekend but looking forward to going.
