Frosh D Noah Ellis to the portal. Not sure how I feel about that one. He tailed off a bit later in the season, but still. Decent size and skill. That’s 10 players out so far, and half of them had more than one year of eligibility left. I’d feel better if the replacements didn’t include 25 year old goalies from UNH.

Josh Nodler to the portal. Not a surprise, Carvel sends Grads on their merry way. Apparently even guys that only spent a single year in Amherst. Josh was drafted, but ineffective here, and his Michigan State numbers were nothing to write home about either. I guess he was waiting to see what his options were. Limited, I imagine. I’m only posting here now in attempt to get that Harvard fiasco out of my mind. Let’s go Merrimack!

    Absolutely.

Someone in one of the threads *****ing about the COY award and using the preseason vs final outcome argument , mentioned that you wouldn’t call Carvel a bad coach because of the gap between the predicted finish and actual was wide. But based on just this single season, yeah he was a contender for the league’s worst. He did little right, including roster construction. And I bet he wouldn’t argue with that characterization.

Maybe Greg Carvel should look in the mirror a bit. It's not like this was his first season on the job...

Mikey Adamson too. Oh boy. Whoever is in the market for a runt d-man that is overmatched every time he steps on the ice will be thrilled to pick him up. Mikey is not a D1 defender. The name gives it away.

I do believe Carvel has identified the problem areas. That’s half the problem. Whether or not we get upgrades is now the question.

Pavicich and Graham both enter the portal. Good. We need a reliable goalie. Graham never really had the opportunity. But Luke had more than his fair shake and failed miserably.

That’s 4 in the portal now, and the only one who will be missed is Lebster.

I hope it was merely money and not some internal politics. Or worse, some perception that the Big 10 is ascendant and HE in decline.

Yeah, it’s all about the money.

Yes they’re missing Barr, but not necessarily for his recruiting prowess. The most recent class is one of the better ones they’ve ever had.

They miss Jared DiMichiel at least as much as Barr. I still don’t understand why he made a lateral move but sure looks like he’s already helping Michigan State.

Not Carvel’s finest season. This was far worse than his first in Amherst in fact. He obviously needs a better staff behind him. Tom Upton doesn’t appear to be up to the job.

I’m a Merrimack fan the rest of the way.
It might have been a lateral move in title but there's no question Michigan State gave him a significant raise.

Oh yay, they get to play BC again. The Minutemen crap their pants anytime they see the word Boston , even when they are the superior team. And this year they are not.
