Umm wrong again. I have given Perets and McKay as examples where they are probably more a product of the system/team in front of them. That certainly looks to be the case with McKay based on the start to his pro career. What you keep ignoring is that the hockey world does not view Levi as the next Dryden McKay. They don't see it like you do. Nor does anyone still have Commesso ranked ahead of Levi as a prospect.
Absolutely wrong. Your "source" is a writer who never played the game, aren't scouts and are just fans - its the internet - anyone can be a writer. Great info there. The hockey goalie scouting community has a different opinion I can guarantee that. Funny but McKay won the Hobey over Levi but the hockey world didnt like McKay back then? I showed data how the NU backup had similar outstanding stats when he played....transferred then came back to earth....Primeau won a Richter prior to Levi. Must just be in the NU water huh? Perets is a product of the system but Levi isnt? Levi wasn't a product of having a loaded Canada team in front of him in the world juniors either huh? So a goalie is only a product of a system when you choose he is...got it.

    • On a side note - what are the predictions for the HE tournament? With the regular season so tight and with BU locked up for an NCAA bid this tournament will have a lot of teams playing for their season....could be anyones guess.

      • Lemonade, your never ending stupidity is simply incredible. If you think "my" source was just that one link I don't know what to tell you. Nobody is touting Commesso as being better than Levi now. Maybe a few years ago but not now. Nobody. And you just keep moving the goalposts and changing what is being discussed every single time you post. Dryden McKay winning the Hobey has absolutely nothing to do with how people viewed him as a prospect moving forward. Tip of the cap.

As usual you go on some random tangent rather than to discuss the facts I provided you.

Apologies that JD the board troll had to jump on this page....his team blows so he needs the attention.

It's hard to believe a maintenance day when he was a leading hockey east scoring title candidate although I did see it
Wished someone had asked Pandolfo about it after game

He didn't play the end of the game on Friday....clearly not a maintenance day.

OK, whatever. That term came from Mark Divver:

Maybe he tweaked something, got a little banged up and Pandolfo thought it would be best to let him sit for Saturday's game. I saw Brown after the game Friday and in the stands on Saturday and he looked fine, though I know you can't always tell. I thought Jeremy Wilmer might not have played after seeing him get hurt Friday though he did get back on the ice afterwards.

                    • One man's opinion:
                      - Levi is the best goalie in the conference. I would take him over Commesso in a one game do or die. Commesso has had some strong games (two shutouts in the last three games) and some challenging ones where he hasn't seemed ready, like Friday night against PC. Levi played great in the Beanpot, Commesso did not.
                      - Commesso could turn out to be the better pro. He is built the way the scouts seems to want goalies to play. Goalies develop in different ways. Spencer Knight was the best goalie prospect in years and right now Jake Oettinger appears to be better (though I am not counting Knight out).
                      - Norhteastern may play a more defensive system than BU, but I don't see them in the Cornell, Minnesota State category.

I agree with your award picks, JD. I hadn't thought about Levi for POY but I see it as likely, since Hutson will absolutely get ROY. It is very rare for a freshman to get POY. We know Kariya and Eichel did. Anyone else? Gionta?

Well, that’s a high bar to reach. I would say Lane Hutson doesn’t reach those levels. However, things are relative and I would still vote for Lane Hutson this year. He’s an incredible force on the ice and makes things happen. Levi was good in conference statistics wise, but out of conference was a different story. His only wins were against Long Island (both in OT) and gave up at least 3 in all the losses including 5 to Western Michigan and 8 to Harvard (That’s why the are not NCAA tournament bound). You would expect more from a POTY goalie. He’s a great goalie for sure, but didn’t have his best season and you could argue it cost them the NCAA (at least at large, they could still win their way in). Some would say the team had the effect for those games, but the numbers are the numbers and the results are the results - no league regular season title and no NCAA berth. BU gets both and a huge driver of that is Mr. Hutson. That’s my take.

I've always gone on the assumption voters go off of Hockey East results only. Now whether that's actually true or not who knows. But I think it makes sense to vote that way. You don't have to factor in non conference SOS etc. It's basically a level playing field. The gap in league play between Levi and the next best goalie is large (ya I know everyone who thinks this is dumb). The forward pool is more even. So I think it's a two man race. Hutson and Levi. I would vote for Hutson but I am skeptical based on how these things have gone over the years. I can easily see Levi being voted POTY with Hutson as ROTY.
