  • Hopefully they can avoid the injury bug. We saw what happened without Fensore this past weekend.

ETA: Matt Brown is Hockey East Player of the Week and Lane Hutson is Hockey East Rookie of the week.

Commesso certainly has the ability to bail us out "from time to time," and has done that on more than one occasion. He does have the occasional bad game, and the second Maine was the first without an excuse (BC, still ill; Michigan, an injury).

Duplessis has more than occasionally come in and bailed us out. I think Duplessis has #1 goalie ability, and am surprised he does not get the call more often. It might keep Commesso sharp, too.

      • Agree on giving Vinny more time. As you said, he's absolutely capable of playing in any environment - he pitched a shutout in the Beanpot final and won at Yost. I thought Jay was a bit slow this past weekend in making the change, I wanted him to make the change after Maine's 5th goal. Our defenders were all gassed and the Fs weren't stepping up in their d-zone coverage where they needed to be, but Drew let a few in that he'd likely want back. Vinny's a calming presence back there, I'd like to see him get a few more minutes down the stretch.
        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

        • Last year. BU had a total of 107 goals, 172 assists, for 279 total points. (35 games)
This year, the terriers have a total of 96 goals 178 assists for 274 points. (23 games)

Just like to see the night and day difference from last year to this year.
Hopefully, Peterson and Phillips (when healthy) can get some of the scoring touch from their teammates.
The only two players I'd say are putting up lower numbers than last year.
Numbers don't mean everything, but they most likely wish they could start getting a couple bounces.

          • I was looking at the HEA standings and remaining games and BU is the only team that can finish first without help. Of course it's unlikely that they run the table, but it's a great position to be in.

It is a great position to be in at this point in the season approaching February. We’re also in great position in the PWR. Like you said, probably not running the table, but I would say 0.500 is a minimum with this team. I ran the PWR with us winning every other game, and it put us at 11 (absent all other results). I figure we’ll at least go at our current win % of 0.739. I think that keeps us in the 5-10 range in all likelihood. Better than that and I think we can get into the top 4. This is all a welcome change and I’m loving it! This team is capable and is a scoring machine compared with most in the NCAA. The only thing I worry about is that tournaments are single elimination, and we have that occasional defensive dud of a game. I’m sure Jay can work that out of them over the last 2 months.

              • I would like to see Vinny get at least one of the remaining games. One of the UVM games is the obvious choice.

BC in two days. Lots of tape to chew on with regards to what NOT to do in their own end. I hope Dom is able to go.

Per Pandolfo, Domenick Fensore and Jamie Armstrong are day-to-day and skated today. Will be game-day decisions tomorrow. Ethan Phillips still has not returned to the ice.

Peterson did not play the last period against Maine- Was he injured? Did no one ask Pandolfo?

I believe he was benched. A couple Maine goals came from Peterson mistakes.

                      • For those going to the game tonight, I received this gem in my inbox.

                        Doors: 6:00pm

Parking Advisory: Due to multiple Boston University home athletic competitions on Friday, January 27th the following parking advisory has been issued. Guests should plan for increased traffic and limited parking:

Parking is available at the event rate of $12 in following lots and garages: CFA Lot (LOT E) after 4pm - located at 855 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA 02215, Buick Street Lot (LOT D) after 4pm - located at 25 Buick St., Boston, MA 02215, and Agganis Arena Garage (LOT A) after 3pm - located behind Agganis Arena (925 Commonwealth Ave) after 3pm. Overflow parking will be sent to the Langsam Garage (LOT B) located at 142 Gardner St., Boston, MA 02215.

I guess the athletic department was taken aback that BU-BC is a big draw.

                        • They should not allow people going to the track meet to park at Agganis. It should be hockey parking only.

That’s not good. I hope the team worked on coverages and responsibilities in the D zone and have a good plan to deny BC of easy opportunities. You can’t do anything about bad bounces, but need to be in the right spots. Also need a solid game in goal. I have no doubt we can create offense and put up enough goals on this edition of BC hockey.

                              • I've got two seats for tomorrow night at BC that aren't spoken for. I paid $70. If interested, reply here and we'll connect. Thanks.
