UConns home feed has been produced by the same guy for decades and it's notoriously bad among those who follow the program.

As for Penn, beside Coach Crocker perhaps feeling like he should have been the BU head coach, the whole team likely felt that they were disrespected when BU was given the last home ice slot over them. Based on records Penn finished 4th in the ECAC, but playoff spots and home ice were given out by the men in the smoke filled room back then.

BU was 11-4 at the time of the forfeits, but just 4-3 in ECAC games. They went 9-1-1 in their remaining ECAC games. Here are the final standing with forfeits and on ice:
1972-73 ECAC Standings w/BU Forfeits On Ice GP W L T Pct. GP W L T Pct. Cornell 18 14 3 1 0.806 Harvard 18 14 3 1 0.806 Harvard 18 14 3 1 0.806 Cornell 18 13 4 1 0.750 Boston College 18 13 5 0 0.722 Boston University 18 13 4 1 0.750 Pennsylvania 22 13 7 2 0.636 Boston College 18 13 5 0 0.722 New Hampshire 19 11 8 0 0.579 Pennsylvania 22 13 7 2 0.636 Clarkson 20 11 9 0 0.550 New Hampshire 19 11 8 0 0.579 RPI 20 11 9 0 0.550 Clarkson 20 11 9 0 0.550 Boston University 18 9 8 1 0.528 RPI 20 11 9 0 0.550 Brown 19 10 9 0 0.526 Northeastern 21 10 11 0 0.476 Northeastern 21 10 11 0 0.476 Brown 19 9 10 0 0.474 St. Lawrence 18 8 10 0 0.444 St. Lawrence 18 8 10 0 0.444 Dartmouth 20 8 11 1 0.425 Dartmouth 20 7 12 1 0.375 Yale 15 5 9 1 0.367 Yale 15 5 9 1 0.367 Providence 17 6 11 0 0.353 Providence 17 6 11 0 0.353 Colgate 17 5 12 0 0.294 Colgate 17 5 12 0 0.294 Princeton 21 3 18 0 0.143 Army 10 1 9 0 0.100 Army 10 1 9 0 0.100 Princeton 21 2 19 0 0.095
As can be seen BU would have finished tied for second with Cornell, not eighth. Furthermore, BU played Cornell once, Harvard twice and BC three times, going 3-2-1. Penn played both Harvard and Cornell twice each, going 0-3-1. So seeding BU 4th and giving them home ice wasn’t totally arbitrary, but it still must have stung the Penn team.
That said, it might have been better for BU if the committee had seeded them eighth, as they would have traveled to Lynah for a replay of “the game that wasn’t,” since according to David Warner the BU team was looking to playing Cornell again. That would have been some game: probably a bit like when BU hosted Maine for the HE Quarterfinals in 1994.

At the end of the quarterfinal loss--with BU fans, myself included, sitting stunned in the WBA stands--all the Terriers skated to the Penn bench to congratulate Crocker. BU lost its final two games to finish 22-6-1 on the ice (11-17-1 in the record book) with a pair of All Americans, Steve Dolloff and Ed Walsh.

Walter Brown is sold out for tonight's game vs. Harvard. I suppose it makes sense given the smaller capacity and the way the team is playing. But I assumed incorrectly that this being during break would mean that tickets would be available at game time. Should be a great atmosphere. Glad it is on ESPN2. Hopefully the team can keep the general momentum going, and reverse their Friday night curse.BU Hockey: The trophy case is once again growing
