Shabby, I didn’t count tables and chairs, but the Hall of Presidents was full. This year, they specifically invited the players that were on the four NCAA tournament teams since 1990. I sat at a table with Marc Dupere (and his wife) and another man that played in the title game in Detroit against Wisconsin, plus Rod Pamenter, a player from Don Vaughan’s first season as coach. And Nic Belpedio. It was a very enjoyable affair, but it was just too bad that Don Vaughan wasn’t able to be present. Dana Borges acted as emcee in Don's absence and the speakers were Jerry Quill '60, Dr. Nikki Moore, and special guest speaker Joey Mormina '05. The recipient of this year's Silver Puck was Gary Ross, V.P. for Admission and Financial Aid at Colgate.Last edited by iowabasedtraveler; 10-31-2022, 11:29 AM.

Oomph. It's still early in the season but once again we can't build off a successful previous season. Last season we had a bit of an advantage against most of our league opponents because we had a season in 2020-21, while 8 of them did not. And honestly I think that helped us knock off Cornell. But this season it's back to the normal pre-pandemic cadence. If we can't make Lake Placid again this season, it will be considered a disappointment for me.Colgate '09

What was that, 3 for 9 on the pp for Qpac? LMAO. What a shame, Young’s goal is the highlight reel of the century.
Lake Placid??? I give you credit, Rain.C O L G A T E

Pretty dam good showing against the #7 team in the country that beat North Dakota twice. Ahead in the third too bad they couldn't stay out of the sin bin ! Beat Princeton tonight for a split on the road !
It all starts with the goaltending.

Nice gutsy come from behind win last night, they could have mailed it in after falling behind in the third ! I always thought Mitton was just a banger, his OT winner was a snipe. We got our split on the road. BTW.....Gylander had a tremendous weekend.
Side note. Cornell had Zero shots on goal in the first and Nine total shots for the game against Q-Pac .Last edited by sshablak; 11-06-2022, 07:49 AM.It all starts with the goaltending.

Thanks for asking, guys. I am well. My strategy this year is all home games and all non-conference away games (Merrimack was the exception due to high hotel prices; just easier to re-subscribe to ESPN+). As for ECAC Hockey away games, I will pick-n-choose. This weekend was the Argetsinger Symposium at the International Motor Racing Research Center in Watkins Glen, so I went to that both days (and I have been to Princeton and Quinnipiac before).
I will head north next weekend for the North Country games (with my 43-year Clarkson season ticket holder friend Clarkson Doug), overnighting at his place in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
I did not watch the ‘Gate games, but I have to agree with Shabby… we are getting it done on the road this year. We need to continue that performance, but we also need to seriously step it up at home (and give ourselves an on-ice, home-ice advantage). On the other hand, the athletic department needs to really start marketing the games on-campus and in-community. We need to provide the young men an off-ice, home-ice advantage, too (besides just the newish arena). The pep band was at both nights of the last home series, which is appreciated. That’s a start.
Question… was there any mention on this weekend’s broadcasts of Don Vaughan’s absence during the third period, OT of the last home game and the subsequent Silver Puck banquet? Was he hit by a puck? Is he okay? Thanks.

Thanks, ColSkate65. I was the one that wrote that eight days ago, as that is what I heard at the game and then again at the banquet. But then another friend in Hamilton, who knows Don, questioned that story, so I was just curious as to whether it was mentioned on the broadcast this weekend.
Separate subject… I don’t remember if it was GreenCoat or TeacherBill, but someone has consistently criticized the recent lack of non-conference success by ECAC Hockey. CHN has recently added PairWise Ranking (PWR) to its ticker and it has definitively confirmed that fact again this season. 62 NCAA D-1 programs this year amongst 6 conferences and the independents. 16 make the national tournament. ECAC Hockey PWR today?
11th for Quinnipiac. 14th for Harvard.
30th for Saint Lawrence.
38th for Union. 39th for RPI.
48th for Clarkson.
50th for Colgate. 52nd, 53rd and 54th for Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth, respectively.
60th for Yale. 62nd for Princeton.
Yikes!!
