Great season. Glad you were the ones to win the Whitelaw, if not us. Hard to reload after an emotional high with a stacked Michigan squad. Hopefully we can slow the Big Ten party on Sunday

Live by the sword, die by the sword.
And, metaphorically speaking, we died a slow and painful death today.
But, in reality, we’ll survive and come back to fight more battles next year.
On another ECAC team’s thread, someone said that the PairWise Ranking (PWR) was a fraud. It wasn’t a fraud. Nearly all season long, the Big Ten had multiple teams in the PWR ‘top ten’ in the nation. And NCHC was surprisingly down this year, after their mini-dynasty in recent times. ECAC had three teams high enough in PWR to earn their spots in the national tournament, and one that scored four straight upset wins to earn its way in via the ECAC tournament title.

The above comments by fans of other ECAC teams are much appreciated...rooting for Cornell and Q-Pac to continue winning...not much to say about the game...I thought we played pretty well in the first period, especially in the last ten minutes...it seemed that after the second Michigan goal the enormity of the task and the mental fatigue of playing one-goal game after one-goal game finally set in...I will say the 5-minute major on Alex Young was unfortunate and, although not covered well by the announcers, probably deserved...Michigan is, quite simply, a team of 4 or 5 potential Dylan Larkin's and, although they were primarily a freshman scoring team, the young frosh were seasoned veterans by March...the overall skill, skating and size IMO is tangibly higher than Harvard's (no disrespect here) and apparently this reality is the norm in the "Big Ten"...yes, the Pairwise was pretty much spot on and these schools are now the major "feeder" conference to the NHL...overall, a very good season and these young men -along with a good job of coaching - deserve a lot of credit for their resilience throughout the season...kinda wish it had been something like 8-1 (the double digits hurts), but the ECAC title was a wonderful achievement...now it's time to look to the future (player moves at this point in the season concern me), continue to move (and EXPECT to move) to narrow the gap between the elite teams and our program...it's not easy, especially where our program has limitations regarding high admission requirements, virtual non-participation in the transfer portal, etc. Thx for an exciting and successful season...GO GATE...

Apple2k, I, too, laughed out loud at your comment. I appreciate people being able to laugh at themselves (and their teams). Someday, hopefully, we can look back and laugh about last night’s 11-1 loss. But I think it’s too soon based on the mood in the Sheraton Four Points lobby this morning.
And GreenCoat, I totally agree with your assessment. And there is some real anxiety about the transfer portal. We shall see in due time.

The official storyline…

P.S. - The Penn State faithful did a great job supporting Michigan’s opponent yesterday. I will loudly and proudly support them tomorrow at the PPL Center.

Dutchman;n3801325]Raiders, great season. Congrats again on your second Whitelaw Cup. Much to be proud of. When it mattered, you beat the ECAC's best.
Ditto. Just want to give a shoutout to the team on a great season, no matter how it ended. Winning the ECAC title and the Whitelaw Cup is not on our itinerary most years, and this season we persevered and got up when we were knocked down. For the life of me I can't figure out how we lost to some of the bottom teams in the league when we showed this much talent in the ECAC Playoffs? I guess we learned from every sub-par game we played and it finally came together at the end.
Kudos to Coach Vaughan and the assistant coaches, trainers, etc. for the excellent jobs they did of preparing the team all season, and for the final games against tough competition. We all salute you on an amazing accomplishment.
I have to say regarding the Allentown PPL Center and the ESPN broadcast: those were terrible sight lines to see a game. I realize that the cameras have to be placed in the booths where the booths are located. But why not take into consideration good sight lines when they built the arena? Very hard to follow the action...at least for this oldtimer 8-/

My thoughts on this season…
I’m sad to see it end, especially the way it ended, with us running into a buzzsaw known better as Tom Brady’s alma mater. But I’m happy I got to see Colgate win an ECAC Championship and return to the NCAA tournament. I do hope this helps with recruiting in the coming years.Colgate '09

As a fan, I went from very high to very low in 6 days. All I can say is thank you to the Seniors for 4 years of commitment to excellence on the ice and in the classroom. I wish you all the best! Thanks, too, to the Coaching staff and team for bringing the Whitelaw Cup home to Hamilton!
Go ‘gate!!!!
