I am sorry I did not make the last minute trip to Lake Placid for this. I was in the building and on the ride in 1990 for the last one. "They played like caged animals" - love it. I am very happy for Donnie who has been a class representative of Colgate for a long time. I can't wait to see highlight video of skating the cup. How often has the same school won the ECAC title in both Men's and Women's hockey? A tremendous accomplishment for Colgate. Thank you to the Class of '65 for an amazing arena. Three titles in the winter for Colgate. I hope they are playing on the East coast this weekend! Go 'Gate! Great job men.....

36 blocked shots says it all...a great buy-in by everybody and too many accolades to enumerate today...again, great for our young men, the assistant coaches and the program in general...but the happiest for our head coach who helps produce quality young men year-in and year-out...he is, and has been, a class act in representing our alma mater...GO GATE

Congrats to Colgate on winning the ECAC. I’ve been following your season since Maine (my team) had a rough weekend against you guys. I really enjoyed my trip up to Hamilton and your arena is top notch. I was surprised with your up and down second half given the amount of high end talent you appeared to have. The Young’s, Verboon and Gylander are all terrific players. I wouldn’t want to be getting Colgate first round of the NCAA’s, best of luck!

This is sixth time since 1998 – in the last twenty-five tournaments. (From 1984 through 1997, the women's ECAC Tournament was won by teams now in Hockey East.)

Back home in Owego, N.Y., and still riding high...
Selection Sunday played out as expected, with the Allentown (Penna.) Regional at the PPL Center looking like this...
Friday, March 24, 5 p.m. Eastern, ESPNU
#2 Penn State (21-15-1; PWR#8) vs. #3 Michigan Tech (24-10-4; PWR#10)
Friday, March 24, 8:30 p.m. Eastern, ESPNU
#1 Michigan (24-11-3, PWR#3) vs. #4 Colgate (19-15-5; PWR#25)
Sunday, March 26, 6:30 p.m. Eastern, ESPN2
For those that watched the Colgate games versus Saint Lawrence (2x), Quinnipiac and Harvard, either in-person or on ESPN+, my guess is that you saw/heard an increased number of vocal 'Gate supporters (from the usual number at Class of 1965 Arena or at away games). They were a welcome addition. Obviously, the team can handle things on the ice, but I don't think it hurts to have loud support from the crowd. I think that is going to be somewhat of a challenge in Allentown, as Michigan supporters (including their pep band) travel very well and are extremely vocal. I sincerely hope Penn State supporters, of which there should be many at their 'home' Regional, take up Colgate's cause in the night game, joining our new-found 'Gate tournament supporters. If not, I fear another scene similar to the 1996 national championship game in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Michigan fans greatly out-numbered Colorado College fans in both (numerical) size and (vocal) strength. The size ratio was similar to the schools' enrollment ratio. he he he
Finally, whereas I previously thought we'd never advance past game one in Lake Placid, I now truly believe that anything is possible in Allentown.
We beat PWR#2 Quinnipiac on Friday, so I believe we can beat PWR#3 Michigan.
We beat PWR#7 Harvard last night, so I believe we can beat PWR#8 Penn State or PWR#10 Michigan Tech.
I believe anything is possible because, obviously, our entire team believes the same.

We all need to be hoping that Gylander’s injury last night was merely a cramp and not a pull. His performance in Lake Placid is a huge reason we are playing next weekend. During the post-game celebrations he was moving around pretty gingerly.
As to Iowa’s points, we are definitely at the anything can happen portion of the season. We have beaten teams of similar caliber to this weekend’s opponents multiple times this year. We have also been beaten by those same teams. I do think there may be a distinct “why not us” confidence by the team after beating two excellent opponents this weekend. The ECAC writ large may have been down this season, but both QU and Harvard fielded top notch squads. Beating both of them on back to back nights means we should be able to play with anyone.

Michigan Oh Michigan. Someone on this board please refresh my fading recollection about the last time we played UM in the NCAA Regionals in 2000 and lost 3-4 in OT. If I recall correctly we either had our golden goal overturned on a very questionable call or their golden goal was highly contested and upheld. I think it was the former, but... There is still a bad taste in my mouth about "having been robbed" which I am sure someone else on this board shares and recalls the details. Whatever, same scenario, then a Red Berenson coached Michigan team which was assumed to kick our butts and the Andy McDonald led Gate team played them straight up and should have won. Let's avenge that incredibly inequitable loss this Friday. Go Gate...

If memory serves me correctly, Andy McDonald scored a would be game winner in overtime. The goal ended up not counting because the referee said he had blown the whistle. But the replay clearly showed that the whistle was not even to the referee’s mouth when the puck had already crossed the goal line.
I swear I’m over it.
Ok, maybe not. It’s like a Zapruder film.

And, Magoo, that is so kewl about you visiting with Karl Clauss. It's a game of sticks-n-pucks, but it is really about friendships, old and new.
Safe travels to Allentown to you, CU13, and everyone else who’s going. I won’t be able to go but I’ll be watching.
