Moose, CHN is still showing ASU-Bemidji as scoreless tie (final score) on their ticker. Looks like they don’t have last year’s ‘bad ticker’ problems resolved yet.

Thought Gylander should've stopped both the first & third goals... no screen on either one, just didn't get all the way to the pipe. Official attendance according to the box score was 827... rink always looks empty on TV as plenty of people (me included) lean on the rail rather than sitting down. Regardless, wish attendance was better... on to 4 PM!

Dave the BruinsFan, you should have come back today… bratwurst sammiches in the suite. he he he. Seriously, take a look at Roaming the Rinks dot com sometime.

Carter Gylander led Colgate onto the ice for today’s pre-game practice. Beni Halasz did the same for Northern Michigan.

          Finally!!
Alex Young with a beautiful PPG.
Prior to that, our Power Play looked inept. At even strength, we were routinely getting beat to the puck and giving up the puck in our own end.

Colgate 8, Northern Michigan 7, SOG after one.
Colgate 1, Northern Michigan 0, score after one.

Northern Michigan tied it up in the second. And minutes later Northern Michigan takes the lead. We’ll see if we can come from behind, but I am not feeling overly optimistic today.

Colgate 16, Northern Michigan 16, SOG after two.
Northern Michigan 2, Colgate 1, score after two.
With seconds left, Northern Michigan called for too-many-men-on-the-ice. We need to come out of the dressing room hot.
They gave us another Power Play (too many men on the ice again) and we couldn’t capitalize.
90 seconds to go and they we give ‘em a 2-on-1… score! Then an ENG.
Colgate 28, Northern Michigan 22, SOG final.
Northern Michigan 4, Colgate 1, final score.
We didn’t deserve to win that one… and didn’t.

We had a beautiful PP goal last night too.
It all starts with the goaltending.

Iowa's end of game report was at 3:40 PM....before the game suipposedly started. Am I messed up or did the game start at 1 PM? Or maybe it's the way USCHO tells time....using 4 hours difference for those in Kansas? Ha-ha.

Welcome to another season of Colgate University Men's Hockey...after this weekend's two losses (not a surprise, but JC at least get a split) TheCoat predicts another non-winning season at 16-19-4, right in the middle of our ongoing mediocrity for the past God Knows When...record prediction would be worse but we participate in a league that is barely above Atlantic Hockey right now...BTW, Noah Laba, a recruit we went after for 18 months and bolted for Colorado College in Feb-March, scored a short-handed goal for the Tigers last night...kids want to play with winning teams and/or tougher conferences...until the ECAC and, specifically, Colgate get serious about upgrading our program (and its leaders) expect the same...Benson gone, McDermott gone, Austin and Cosgrove both left, two "booked" draft picks de-committed (including Laba)...enough already...

Last night's game was frustrating, while tonight's was just plain disappointing.
I think that we are a better team than we showed today, but the bottom line is that we opened our regular season with two non-conference losses.
We certainly aren't doing ourselves, nor ECAC Hockey, any favors in PWR.
I am a believer in Carter Gylander's talents, but he didn't have a great day (nor weekend).
Our Minnesotans didn't have a great day either.
We aren't talented enough to just sling the puck across the ice in our own end without looking.
The Young brothers are fun to watch. They could be our saviors, me thinks.
Hopefully we learn from our mistakes. And we certainly have more opportunities non-conference this month to show that we have done so.
Meanwhile, I ill start packing for Thursday's flights to Phoenix and next weekend's games versus Arizona State in their brand-new on-campus arena.

We dominated possession for long periods tonight, never turned it into good chances. Credit to their goalie as well, made some really good saves in the 2nd when we had a chance to to go up by a couple. Maybe I'm an outlier, but thought the squad looked better than some of our recent teams. On to AZ...

                            FROM THE SOURCE
                            Head Coach Don Vaughan

"We had enough chances to win that game tonight. Multiple grade A opportunities that just didn't go. If people simply look at the score they might think the game was one-sided, but it was not. I loved our effort and our competitive level. These two games against a very good team will help us in the long run. We believe in our process and will keep grinding. This is a good Colgate hockey team."

Never fear fans, alums & friends. Vaughan has it all under control like he always does. This will be Colgate’s year to shine. A historic second ECAC Title is in the making as we speak. You just don’t realize it yet. Your problem is that you just need to keep the faith. Believe in the process like I do. This is a good hockey team. It doesn’t always have to be about winning, you know. Sheesh.

                            16-19-4, Coat? You’re getting soft. Maybe 12-24-3

Yes we did play fairly well at times, but we can't finish. I'm concerned about the goaltending, two big problems.

yes, Gylander has yet to step up after a good start in his first year...attendance for two games? something around 1300, not exactly a magnet for attracting recruits...thanks for the Young Brothers, but who else is going to step up at the forward position? This is exhausting...
