Carrierre is having himself a fantastic start to the season. I know he's on some NHL radar already but if he keeps this up....

Just what the Doctor ordered....bet the boys had a good bus ride home from Colgate. On the road and 3 out of 4 possible points. As you said Lisa - Gabe was on his game. Great 3 game stretch. He could be what gives us a chance against HE's higher ranked teams. UVM moves into 38 spot in pairwise ranking - nice progression. Glad for Buyalsky, as he was frustrated against HC with some grade A chances that didn't go in. Good to get his 1st and hopefully many more.

Cats are getting a regulation win this weekend. I have nothing to base that on, but I choose to believe it.

0 goals in 2 games. Awesome! We suck yet again. Can we go back to the ECAC to be at least a 500 team. Maybe D3 and we might beat Middlebury if we are lucky. **** show!!!

Certainly disappointing, better Saturday but a way to go for sure. But lets be clear I don't want to see Division 3 hockey and I'm still glad we're in HE versus ECAC. The future NHL'ers, overall talent level and level of play we see coming into the Gut is quite impressive. Hoping this current administration and coaching can get the horses needed to move up the standings. Still work to do. UMASS Lowell has UVM's # and is one of the more difficult teams to play.

There is a slight chance we make the playoffs if we are an ECAC team again and then we could show our prowess based on improvement over time. Might be enough to boost confidence where we at least make playoffs like the old days....

Yup. Our rivalry with Lowell is that of hammer and nail.

I sort of agree with this. We'd be back in with the like-minded schools who give a half ***ed effort at athletics and then congratulate themselves every 7 or 8 years when they have a decent season. That's really where we belong. On the opposite side, just look at schools like Penn St. and UConn who have legitimate good programs and only recently began playing hockey. You can probably throw ASU in there as well. I know, I know, they have way more resources, yada, yada, yada.

Not coming here to troll ... but I thought UVM looked like a JV team the first night (11 shots on goal?), but I was impressed with their response on Saturday. There's some good young talent on that team. They had some bad puck luck on both nights, with pucks bouncing when they seemed to have open nets to shoot at. I think they'll get better as the season progresses.

Thanks UMLFan - Friday was pretty bad, and then taking stupid penalties didn't help matters. UML out-shot UVM 17-3 on PP and scored 3 PP goals. Sounded like Saturdays response was good. Norm Bazin has UML program expecting NCAA's/High HE Finish every year. They know how to put opponents away and can lock down with the best. UVM is trying to get to .500 and then move from there. Winning is easy to say much more difficult to learn. Again going back to Colgate weekend that is why that was so important and a good stepping stone. Big weekend series with UNH at the Gut this weekend. UNH and UVM next to each other in pairwise. If you want to move up this weekend becomes super important. Hope the Cats bring it.

Not intending to turn this into a HE versus ECAC situation, but need to point out some more things. I used to like very much the ECAC - travel partners for different Fri/Sat match-ups, classic rivalries with Northern NY (Clarkson/SLU), Dartmouth and other Ivy schools. However since going to HE in 05/06, there have been 6 HE NCAA champs, and 4 runners up. During this same time ECAC teams have won 2 NCAA's and had 2 runners up. HE overall is a stronger league. I don't think its a guarantee that being in ECAC gets us to a significantly higher level. One of the key reasons for leaving in 05/06 is that UVM was losing out on recruits to Ivy League schools. We are a state school that was competing against Ivy's and private colleges. In talking to insiders it was becoming increasingly difficult to get the caliber players needed to succeed. Immediately upon joining HE our talent level and caliber of recruit improved. Now obviously many years later we have lost our way and not been able to consistently get the talent level needed to compete night in night out in HE. We have to hope that the current path taken by Todd and his staff will show improvement over time and allow for success. I want UVM to be good in HE.

Maybe our rivalry with UNH will pick up this weekend with a battle to stay out of last place in HE..... :--)

I watched the whole thing. They’re two very evenly matched (or equally inept) teams. But I’ll take the dubya too.
