Yes, he transferred and brother Matt Fusco is headed there as well. Harvard has a ton of D recruits coming in and playign time was likely going to be tough for the Fusco's, neither of which took an extra year in the USHL for some more seasoning.

I’d agree if Abruzeze had stayed to center Farrell and Coronato. Without him, the Crimson need Karpa to pick up the slack. Agree about the D. They are deep and talented.

I don’t know. Didn’t Michigan lose six or seven players from last year’s team including Bernier and Owen Power? Not saying they won’t be talented this year but I hesitate to call them the top team in the country.

I wouldn’t hesitate. I would say their not even close to the best team in the country. Harvard gonna win both in Ann Arbor.

A few thoughts on last night's exhibition game against Guelph. And yes, the final score reflected the one-sidedness of the game.

1. Harvard's overall team speed seems to have improved from last season. After the first few minutes of the first period, the team turned the game into a track meet where they were skating circles around Guelph. A joy to watch. In fairness to Guelph, it was their third game in three nights having played Cornell and Dartmouth on Thursday and Friday nights. They didn't really have their legs after the first ten minutes of the game.

2. Matthew Coronato and Sean Farrell picked up where they left off last season. Farrell looked in mid-season form quarterbacking the PP.

3. Crimson fans are going to love Philip Tresca and Joe Miller. Both kids were active on pretty much every shift, each scored and Tresca had a beautiful feed to Austin Wong for the opening goal. I'm guessing that Tresca will center Farrell and Coronato and if so, buckle up because they will blow by every line they face.

4. Hard to know what the D pairings will look like beyond Siedem and Thrun because Teddy mixed and matched all night. Ryan Healey, who took a vicious behind-the-back hit from a Guelph forward and tumbled into the boards somehow got up and was back skating his regular turn later in the second period. Honestly thought he might have been done for the season; the hit was that severe. Healey reminds me of Reilly Walsh.

5. John Farinacci didn't play last night due to either injury or illness. He is expected to return soon, hopefully by next weekend.

6. We got a look at freshman goalie Aku Koskenvuo for the first two periods. Lanky and takes up a lot of the net. He seems poised and confident. Didn't really have much action.

Why didn't attendance rebound last year with such a strong and fun to watch team (and being on the backside of COVID-19)? Shouldn't such an exciting team put fans in the stands? What can be done to get things back to where they were 10 or 15 years ago? Sellouts shouldn't depend on buses arriving from Ithaca. This is on the Athletic Department not the hockey staff.

There were some restrictions in place last season for fans attending games at the Bright Center. And frankly, I think some people were/are still nervous about Covid (heck, Rachel Wallensky, the CDC Director, just tested positive for Covid). I think attendance will increase this year with the additional booster vaccine and fewer masking and other restrictions. At least that is my hope. I'm planning on being there next weekend.

The home opener is the in the books and while it wasn't pretty after one period, the Crimson righted the ship and took control thereafter. Once Harvard got its forecheck straightened out, Dartmouth was hard-pressed to get any offense the rest of the game. Still, the turning point came halfway through the second period when Austin Wong was whistled for a contact to the head penalty. The officials, after an interminable delay, awarded the Green a five-minute power play. And wouldn't know it, the Crimson tied the game on a beautiful 2 on 1 with Alex Lafreniere feeding Jack Bar for his first collegiate goal. Momentum was clearly on our side at that point, and it was a matter of time before we took the lead for good. Lafreniere's go-ahead goal early in the third period broke the tie and we were on our way.

John Fusco suited up for the Green and he heard it from the Harvard students. If you transfer, the home fans are less than forgiving.

Bring on the Tigers. Hoping the Crimson get off to a faster start tomorrow night.

Harvard is off to the best start (4-0) in recent years. The opposition has been relatively weak, but our depth is impressive, esp. at goal with all three fully capable starters. Meanwhile, Karpa has stepped up nicely centering the second line in Farinacci's absence. Alex Gaffney provides great energy with his skilled spirited play. The Ivies and the ECAC in general, except for Q'pac, seem off to a slower start the usual, but the season is long and challenging opposition will surely come in Michigan, Ithaca, and Hamden. I want to hear others' perspectives what you see as our strengths, weaknesses, biggest challenges going forward?

Really like the team this far. With farinacci back (sounds like early Jan based on yesterday’s telecast), Harvard will have 3 lines that can score. Harvard has not had that kind of depth in recent years.

Potential derailers could be injuries, selfish play, lazy penalties (wong is the poster child here), lack of engagement in walkover games (feels like ECAC is down this year) - both 3rd periods this weekend we’re kind of meh. Also, I assume Gibson is the guy in net, but rotating 3 goalies is likely not a winning formula.
