CCHA grants membership to Augustana University

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) today announced the CCHA Board of Directors has voted unanimously to welcome Augustana University as the league’s ninth member.

“We are very pleased to welcome Augustana University into the CCHA,” said CCHA Board of Directors Chair and Bemidji State University President Dr. Faith Hensrud. “The commitment Augustana University has to academic excellence mirrors that of all the teams in the CCHA and will add to our overall excellence as a league.”

"A CCHA fan in Houghton, MI posted that her son Cameron "Has big dreams of being a CCHA ref some day." I forwarded this to CCHA Director of Officiating Kevin Langseth and we teamed up to make his birthday a special one this year. Good luck Cameron! #Hockey"

For those of you with memories, Geof Morris from UAH, one of the most passionate fans there was, died yesterday. Age 44. RIP my friend.

Big loss. He was a great ambassador for college hockey in Huntsville and a wonderful member of this forum.

That's very sad news. Much too young!

Very sad. He will be missed. I didn't know him personally, but had a few forum exchanges with him. He was a great Charger fan. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I really enjoyed our banter during Beaver/Charger week, and have missed it since the Chargers haven't iced a team. I didn't realize how much until I saw this this past weekend.....

                  RIP Geof.

He helped advise me on my trip to Huntsville a few years back. I always appreciated his passion for UHA Hockey, and really felt bad about their removal from the CCHA. Prayers to his family.

Good article. It is interesting to hear the CCHA has rebuffed Lindenwood. For me that is hard to understand given they took Augustana. Outside of ideal geography, Lindenwood seems to offer a lot more than Augustana.
