I mean, he allowed 15 goals in his last 3 games. Surely that = the favorite lol
Go ahead and show me another CCHA team bringing back a First team All-America, a national award finalist, and the conference player of the year- let alone all in the same player.

Well chuckles, how many of those games figured into determining who won the MacNaughton?

Only one game was the difference in the MacNaughton race. And the team that came out ahead that time has 80% of itself missing. Now you try and come up with some other smart aleck remark that would make you vote someone else as the favorite. You're going to come up just as empty as the last challenge I gave you that you quietly avoided.

[QUOTE=moose97;n3806688]
Gave up 8 to Penn State, 3 in the first 10 minutes to NMU, 5 against BG, 5 against Western, 5 against BSU. So, two. Also, like when they happened matters. He still absolutely **** the bed fully five times. You're cool with it if it's an OOC or playoff game? Interesting. Delusional, but interesting.
/QUOTE]
37 saves against BSU is hardly a bad game. Both the conference games had a D corps so short of bodies that two forwards were taking regular blue line shifts, and one of those was a freshman. I'll take those along with the half dozen games he flat out stole.
When I said they would be the favorite for the MacNaughton, there was no other claim. Nothing about the GLI, nothing about the Mason, nothing about the NCAA tournament. Just the CCHA regular season. So if you can't make the distinction between which games count for what, this is going nowhere. Are there other competitors? Of course. Can they all be the favorite? No. When the preseason polls come out, that's when this will be settled.

Every goalie has good games and bad games. The games I saw, which wasn't all of them, those goals were mostly because the defense was bad, i saw very few goals he would have wanted back.. I think the D corps next year will be better. The talent is higher at least. Does that mean Tech is the favorite. I hate that term.IMHO it's too early to tell. BG will be better, BSU will be better, St. Thomas will be better, etc. I think it will be very competitive in the league next year.MTU: Three time NCAA champions.

BG lost Burke and Gresock who accounted for a ton of points. We lost Vinnell and Malmstrom from a defense that was questionable to begin with. Sure, Swankler, O’Hara and Stoever are back, but those are some big holes, especially on D (even though Parker will finally be off of medical redshirt). We’re going from one of the older teams in the league to one of the youngest. I don’t think you’ll find a ton of BG fans rushing over here to challenge JJMs MacNaugton prediction.

Adam Wodon's column on CHN was another schlock piece.
"Miami may be looking to leave for the CCHA. It's something that many people have speculated about for a long time, but the school may finally be getting serious about it."
Is there any substance here, or just more of the speculation that you just referenced in your own column?
"What is the point of Miami continuing to subject itself to this, when it has a perfectly viable option in the CCHA?"
I have no desire to see the CCHA become the new WCHA 2.0 where all the cast-offs go. Miami adds almost nothing to exposure and creates almost untenable road trips for the majority of the league. Sorry Redhawks, look somewhere else if you want to leave your league.Last edited by John J. MacInnes; 04-23-2023, 08:53 AM.

Two series against division teams, one series each against division crossover teams for 26 league games. Lots of playoff options. One problem is the league’s biggest rivalry gets watered down.
