        • The Rochester Amerks gave it all they had, but lost in triple OT 6-5 to Laval in the AHL playoffs. Great run by Appert and his squad -- he is certainly playing a key role in the youth-driven rebuild which seems to be taking root in the Sabres organization.

I'm glad I saw such a lanky player issue open ice body checks. Those checks were presented to the bank for full payment.

In 9 playoff games they had 33 goals against. As a team, their PK was 68%. As a former goaltender, I'm surprised his team didn't defend better.

I've been lost since 1989. I got a breakaway on a frozen river and have been skating ever since.

Seth's RPI teams were not great defensively either. After his first couple of seasons, RPI always finished the season having surrendered more goals per game than the conference average. The best teams during that phase had professional-caliber goaltenders (York, Kasdorf).
