I spotted Shafer at the regional games on Thursday in Albany, so his recovery appears to be progressing.

I watched the Q game in person. So many shots, so few quality chances, when there was a good chance Ian was superb. You could argue that Q likes to get dirty in the corners, center ice, on the way to the bench, after the whistle, and in the parking lot....but they don't seem to keen on getting in front of the goal, creating screens and the like. Ian had many saves with no obstructions in front of him...well done to those who work to keep it clean in there! As we've talked about....playing at the level of your competition is this teams Achilles heel...but come playoff time, you opponent is usually strong and this team can play with anyone. Let's GO RED....get Max healthy....allow others to mend and let's see what this squad can do!

After an up and down season, finally a weekend sweep, with two shutouts. Got our first round bye and two weeks to heal and solidify this upward momentum. A hot goalie is a wonderful thing going into the playoffs.

A gritty 1-0 win over Quinnipiac. Stats tell the story. Quinnipiac way outshooting Cornell, but the Red were somewhat successful in keeping most of those shots from outside the dots. Cornell winning the faceoff battle and blocking way more shots. All 3 of our goals against Quinnipiac this season were PP goals: not exactly our forte in other games. Ian Shane started off a little shaky, but gained confidence as the game progressed and eventually beat out the nation's #1 goalie.
Have to get at least one point or have Colgate lose at least one point tomorrow night to secure first round bye.

Well another Jekyll and Hyde weekend for the Big Red. Who can explain it? Coach Schafer said on Friday, players either didn't have the drive or they had too much drive and tried to win the game by themselves. Saturday showed what this team can do, playing on Senior night for their teammates. Two things exemplify the difference: the first shorthanded goal of the season and two ENGs (a rarity for the Big Red). The players were thinking, working the process, egged on by a boisterous Lynah crowd.
What will this weekend bring? Who knows? One good thing is that virtually the whole team is healthy enough to play.
