  • [QUOTE=Marmot;n3715401]You know, I was thinking about the conversation of a few days ago about great games at Starr, and maybe that skews my viewpoint on what I expect. The worst season the team had when I was there was 16-12-4. The team was routinely cranking out seasons 10 games over .500. Starr was a noisy, loud, full old barn. I miss that.(QUOTE)

I second the motion Marmot. Starr used to be a rockin' place back in the day. I remember (somewhat) a big game when Clarkson came to town and was heavily favored with players who were much more experienced, and a favorite to go to the NCAAs. I think it was in 1962 or 1963. I believe Bobby Meehan had a hat trick to bring us a W in that game,. The bleachers were packed with students and they went wild. It seemed Starr was really good at keeping the decibels high and for more of the games - even those where we lost. Of course '65 has not had huge student representation yet, so we shiouldn't judge. But Starr had that old barn atmosphere, that, in my opinion helped intimidate the opponent.

Nice win over Bruno, even if playing on fumes.

Carter Gylander led Colgate onto the ice for tonight’s pre-game warm-up.
But, Mitch Benson took the position at the start of the game, with Andrew Farrier backing him up (and Carter Gylander).

      • Have heard Gylander has a high ankle & probably not back anytime soon.

        • A high ankle sprain is when you tear or damage the high ankle ligaments that connect the tibia to the fibula. These ligaments are known as syndesmosis, even though that word refers to the joint itself. You might hear your high ankle sprain called a syndesmotic injury. Our ankles connect the leg bones to the foot bones.

          • Thanks Gate83 and Iowa, is there a lower ankle sprain then that connects ankle to foot bones ? Which would be worse ?

            • Gylander did not dress in Monday's game at Brown. Andrew Farrier and Will Friend were both dressed as backups.

I would continue to go with Mitch Benson the rest of the season barring injury.

                • There's a great story on Paul Mcavoy on twitter, you should read it. Unfortuneately I don't know how to post it here, maybe someone else will, please.

                    • Very tough game against the hottest team in the country tonight. Clarkson has a goalie from Utica NY that is getting playing time lately. His numbers are phenominal, 6-0-1 .929 SAA 1.25 GAA

                      • Tonight is the game that could change everything. As noted clarkson is one of the hottest teams in the league (let’s not forget we are pretty hot right now too). Any points against clarkson is a bonus and then we have to do one better than Cornell against St. Lawrence. RPI is also three points back but we just need to tie them (much like Cornell).

if we get two points from clarkson it is a massive win, one point is a win and 0 is a wash as I think most teams get 0.

                        • From the Clarkson side of things - this weekend has historically been a disappointment. Even in years where Clarkson has come in the better team, they have not had much success in Hamilton or Ithaca. As much as I'd like to think they will stay hot, I would not be at all surprised if they end up on the short end of things. Wish I were going but am out of town for the weekend.
Not a real doctor, nor do I play one on TV!

                            • Mitch Benson is in goal for ‘Gate.
Ethan Haider in goal for Clarkson.

Clarkson scores first on 4-on-4 with beautifully set-up goal.

Clarkson 9, Colgate 6, SOG after one.
Clarkson 1, Colgate 0, score after one.

One could see Clarkson’s second goal coming from a mile away.

Colgate 17, Clarkson 17, SOG after two.
Clarkson 2, Colgate 0, score after two.

Mitch Benson is getting no defensive support. Clarkson scores again. And again.

Alex Young from Colton Young puts Colgate on the board.

Colgate 28, Clarkson 22, final SOG.
Clarkson 4, Colgate 1, final score.
