What a game by Mitch Benson. He played his best hockey these last few weeks and especially over this series. When Mitton had that breakaway I knew a goal could end it and was pumped when he scored. We will not end with a losing record as well! I think we come in to Placid dangerous with a hot goalie and nothing to lose. Let’s see what happens!

Of course I’m familiar with the PWR. But I thought the NCAA always made sure to avoid intra-conference matchups in the 1st round.

Cornell 10, Colgate 3, SOG after one.
Colgate 0, Cornell 0, score after one.
    Really miss Colton Young.
A lot is being asked of Mitch Benson, but he has responded superbly.
But I don’t think this will be sustainable through three periods.
Does John McGraw ever say “our team?” Homer announcing.

Watching on ESPN+ from Apache Junction, Ariz.

    Verboon from McKechney!!

Cornell 27, Colgate 10, SOG after two.
Colgate 1, Cornell 0, score after two.

This third period will be gut-wrenching.
We can’t seem to carry the puck into the Big Red end consistently, so we are just dumping it in. Even with a man advantage.

Ross Mitton with beautiful breakaway goal.

Cornell scores with 7.7 seconds left.

Cornell 37, Colgate 14, final SOG.
Colgate 2, Cornell 1, final score.

Announcer already gave Cornell excuse… “Linesmen didn’t call icings.”

No score after one, Cornell with alot of shots, Colgate with alot of blocks. Much cleaner on the hits, new officials for todays game. McGuire took the only penalty on a questionable call. Happy it's scoreless so far, we were outplayed. Shots 10-3 in Cornell's favor, faceoff's even, we blocked twelve shots.

How dirty was that hit on Mitton??? Not only a blow to the head but the Cornell skater absolutely left his feet to deliver the impact. I know it was a major and DQ, but I think that could have warranted a suspension as
    well.

I echo almost everything Teacher said above. Most of all—how sweet it would be to beat and eliminate Cornell today. Beat the Big Red.

Great gutsy win by punching back at the bully. These kids are resilient and even if we lose tonight kudos to the young men

Cornell is always intimidating with its size and physical play. So impressed we held our own and took advantage of special teams. Their goalie is not the best IMO and they even benched him halfway through, if I recall. My expectations this season were low (sorry) and so were the outcomes vs. Cornell (sorry), so the wins against them were more impressive. As someone said, the Big Red are struggling this season (much like SU hoops) so why not beat them while they’re down?! But nothing, absolutely nothing, is better than beating Cornell at Lynah! It really should be worth 2 wins in my expert, biased opinion.
Go ‘Gate! Get to LP and give us a %*#! banner.

Side note - WHY was the women’s team matched up with Yale in the NCAA Tournament? I mean, the 2 teams just played each other in the women’s ECAC Championship game! I think it gave us a disadvantage!
You must be familiar with the PWR, Rainman? No. 5 Yale @ No. 4 Colgate. I had a bad feeling from the moment I woke up. Couldn’t make it due to the bomb cyclone - how ominous. Crowd was not what it could/should be; I get the hype with basketball, but student-athletes should almost be required to attend an NCAA playoff game at home! Yale had revenge on its mind. They’d shut us out twice. Yale scored first. Their goalie is phenomenal. Home ice felt meaningless. We didn’t even have 4 teams participate in our tournament like everyone else. Hard to be disappointed with a 30-win season, but another NCAA tournament OT loss (that makes three). Shutting down our top line for the third time…Yale is worthy of the FF.
Great talent returns, but putting up 13 goals against RIT and inflating stats is misleading. We struggled against Top-10 teams more than once. Hope the groundwork has been set for future top recruits to play at Colgate. Putting Murphy in goal changed the outcome of our season. Hate to think where we’d be without Kalty…It certainly is fun cheering for a winning program!

Great win, we live to fight another day at 4:00 pm today. It's too bad the officiating plays such a factor, penalty calls friday night favored the Big Red, that major cost us the game, still irked. Last night Cornell gave us seven powerplays and we got two powerplay goals and stopped all four Red powerplays, officiating the difference.
We are a faster team, they are a bigger team, who gets the calls today ? I think the series should be over.
Their two majors were hits to the head and Gate's lucky noone got hurt. Then Young gets taken out in the third, left the game bent over doubled up as he made it to the locker room, have to think he's doubtful for tonight. Refs went off the ice to look at the film, came back, no call, not sure if it was a penalty or not ?
Hope the boys are still healthy and not too beat up for today. I once asked Mike Milbury after a Bruins vs Canadians playoff series, don't you want to run Guy Lafleur thru the boards ? His reply, "You can't hit what you can't catch" Hopefully that's us tonight ! Still irked about the officiating, just awful !
