This may not be over yet!

    • Oops, I may have posted too soon. Twenty minutes after the game was called the championship winning goal is still under review (after they awarded the trophy to the Mavs). What a cluster. Stay tuned, this thing may not be over...

      • This thing is not over, there's more hockey to come. What a way for the re-inaugural league championship to end (or not)!

        • In all my (way too many) years of following college hockey, I've never heard of a clusterchuck like this. If reports coming through various outlets are true, the fact that this is even happening and the way it is being handled is a stain on the league and the game.

Two trophy presentations for your inaugural championship game? Yeah, someone needs to be handed their walking papers for this.

            • According to the official CCHA Statement, the OT goal was instantly reviewed and ruling was "good goal." GAME OVER!!! So, some 30 mins later, "additional production footage" mysteriously shows up and the Commissioner overrules both the on-ice and video review calls by the on-ice officials, who by the way, aren't even in the building at this point.

Darn right, someone needs to be handed their walking papers for this disgrace.

              • And in the end it didn't matter as the Mavs made it official. Heck of a way to end a season.

Ya.... They should not have started the trophy ceremony if they were going to reverse the call.

That's when I left the game only to find out 40 miles later on my way back home that game was restarted.

Maybe Lucia wanted a second CCHA team in the nationals. As my late father in Boston used to say, the Battle of Bunker Hill wasn't on the level, either.

                      • Congrats on the victory, TUPD! Did you get presented with your trophy twice? Thanks for running this contest once again!
                        What did you say?
                        Who own the Chiefs?
                        What did he say?
                        Owns! Owns!

                        • the way I thought about it after last night after Mankato former coach Broise (?) mentioned about signing the scoring sheets. What was the official protocol on cameras and who was supposed to review them? If all cameras were eligible then this was the right call. If they AREN'T and BSU won after the restart we could be seeing lawsuits this morning from Minnesota State and if I were alumni i would be asking why we weren't suing the league and putting an injunction on the NCAA.

So, if all cameras are eligible for replay in the final Lucia needs to be fired. I get how its about optics but this is why you pre-decide these things. If all cameras are eligible for review, then this is a reffing problem and they failed to follow procedures. They need to close out on every aspect and Lucia is PROBABLY in the right. However, there is the question about signoffs and so on.

You have procedures, officious or not, for this very reason. Some with more flex than others, I admit.

Earlier this season, in an (ironically) BSU home game, the "official" replay equipment malfunctioned (a few seconds into a period - prevailing wisdom is the off ice official forgot to hit the start button to begin the period). Since the "official" replay didn't catch what needes to be reviewed (an obvious elbow/contact to the head), they didn't call any penalty. Unfortunately, the FloHockey replay clearly showed it, and said replay was shown in building on the scoreboard (and, the BSU player was suspended following the game) . Playing Devils advocate, can the affected team (who subsequently lost) now appeal to restart the game from that point with the 5 min major on the board?

for the record, and you didn't touch on this, i might have gotten some of my "firings" wrong... Lucia should be fired if ALL cameras ARE NOT eligible.... anyhoo

edit: This is why you have a rules agreement amongst the members that's gone over in detail by somebody who knows what they're doing

Yeah, I got two trophy presentations. I should have waited until this morning to finalize this. Lesson learned for next year. Enjoyed having you participate again!
