Some important covid info somewhere in there about this weekend. Can't remember timestamp
19:45 is the time stamp. Sounds like the timing of this weekend's games is still up in the air pending follow-up COVID tests.

Edit: thanks for doing these. Insights into the team that are not available elsewhere.

Certainly a contrast from hockey players' grades in the 1960's.

Just wondering if any of this could have been helped by the grade inflation seen at colleges over the past many years?

That certainly is part of it, but not everything.

I'm adding my thanks for these great productions -- a great resource and link to the program.

The short story is testing today will determine the schedule of when they can next play. Weber indicated that its not likely that RPI will play Fri/Sat in the NC and mentions Sun/Mon or possibly Mon/Tues -- depending on the test results presumably.

                  • This is better than having them totally postponed like last week. Let's hope we're not too rusty

Does this mean that the team will have to contend with the Potsdam and Canton rush-hour traffic on Monday? ;-)

                      • So SLU gets two days off after playing Union, and we play them in about 20 hours after the Clarkson game ends. :-(

Of course, but grade inflation at RPI and has been less extreme than most colleges and universities. One of the main drivers is the level of support and structure that the athletes get. Study periods, study groups, tutoring (if required) and academic monitoring help to ensure that the athletes can meet their very extensive athletic and academic demands. With almost the entire men's hockey team in Lally, there is a strong intra- and inter-class support structure within the team and from the athletic and academic departments. There are a lot more support resources for students in general than back in the day (it's no longer treated as almost a matter of pride that "look to your left, look to your right - one of the three of you won't be at graduation") but for the athletes it's a bit more structured.

Students have a very high acquisition cost. Although it may not be apparent from some of this administration's moves, in general the goal within education is student retention. It's just smart business.

                          • Ture Linden was one of 77 players nominated for the Hobey Baker Award. https://rpiathletics.com/news/2022/1...ker-award.aspx

BTW, so were Billy Jerry and Owen Savory.

                            • Thanks to the schedule change, I will probably miss both games.

                                I remember Overall QPA as 2.3 in the 60's. I believe it's 2.8 now.
