Carnegie Mellon has had to drop out of the football tournament due to an outbreak of COVID. They had very little chance in their first round game so it should not change the field much. Hoping RPI can handle Endicott and move into the next round. They would then most likely face a very strong Cortland team and it is a bit unlikely we could progress much further as we are placed in a very difficult bracket. However, after this news about Carnegie Mellon, it could get interesting if a few other teams in our path had a similar problem. This could even turn out to be a tournament in which just staying healthy could move you all the way up to the Stagg Bowl!!!!!!! This has been a very exciting season in which we were able to snatch several victories in the last seconds of games (and came within 1 extra point of a possible undefeated season. But having seen some of the other teams that have been highly ranked in this tournament, many of them are there for good reason. I think that this has already been one of the most successful seasons in RPI football history and we should all congratulate this exceptional group of boys.

Football final RPI 20 Endicott 14. A game not really as close as the score indicated but we just seem to turn every game into a nail biter. We move on to next week on the road to play SUNY Cortland and that will present a much greater task with a highly ranked team. RPI was up 20-7 entering the 4th quarter. They did make mistakes today but held Endicott to 1 of 12 third down conversions. Outgained Endicott by a 2:1 margin in total offense.Comment

Correct. It appears we have a team that thrives on making the games end up close. We had this one in our pocket but an interception, some poor pass defense on a play or two, taking a roughing the passer penalty on a play that we had forced an interception, etc. made this a closer game than it should have been. We have a very good team that plays well under pressure but next week is a different level of competition. We will have to do everything right against Cortland. But this team has shown it is capable of doing just that. See Ithaca and Union!! In any case, we have hit double figures in wins and you just do not see that often in the 100 year history of RPI football! Waiting for game #2 in the series with LIU. Nice to see the win last night and I expect a similar result tonight. But what is amazing is I was checking the NCAA stats and one Owen Savory is #1 in the nation in goaltending in both save % and gaa. Linden Marshall is # 46. Ah what could have been…..Comment
