  • Has anyone heard if the tickets have all been sold? Although I suspect that quite a few people who would normally go won't buy tickets because they are mad at Shirley, with only a little over 1000 tickets being sold for each game, those will probably go fast.

The seating is general admission. No restrictions on where you may sit have been announced, and I doubt the field house staff are going to be asked to intervene in people's seating choices.

I am looking forward to going to the games!

Starting today in this state you do not even need to wear a mask inside primary or secondary schools.
I received an email a little while ago from SLU letting me know that they had waived indoor mask requirements for this weekend series... : ha ha

Speaking of staying away. Not that a lot of people go to the spring outdoor D3 games anyway, but it appears even outdoors games still require being masked for a couple hours. What if you do not want to sit with your spouse? Not asking for myself since I know Jenny would cut them off but just in general.

Does that mean that the first one to get to Shirley's throne can watch from there? She's quite unlikely to be there.

After much debate, our HFH crew is opting out and instead will GATHER TOGETHER in solidarity at a nearby establishment to watch the game on TV. I won't set foot on the campus or spend a nickel until she is gone. Period. If and when RPI wins the weekend series I will travel to cheer them on in person in the host's barn.
Not that this forum is intended to be advertising for local establishment. It is not. But, any interest in naming the establishment.

If day to day circumstances permit, may be kind of nice to drop by and again see and chat with people you may actually know at least casually but have not seen in a totally absurd, unacceptable and unbelievable two years.

To the animals calling the shots at that place, something like this would constitute a totally novel concept beyond their comprehension capabilities.

Would not back it up with a certified check for $10,000 but I'll bite. Estimate a crowd approaching 500 made up mostly of 35-40% of the most committed and dedicated fans with season tickets (last I heard about 1,000 in total).

Students will probably number near zero as they are on break and mostly not here.

The nowhere near as committed and dedicated walk up crowd possibly could provide the rest of the 500. However, keep in mind that this less invested group is the most likely to stay away in droves upon learning that they MUST go to only one door to enter, MUST present a card proving full vaccination including booster and MUST wear a mask for well over two hours. Just too many MUSTS for less invested paying customers, especially since they now all simply have far better options for their entertainment dollar in this area requiring absolutely NONE of the preceding.

                  • Many have given great reasons not to grace HFH with their presence this weekend and I respect them. I cannot go on Friday or Saturday anyway due to major family commitments. However, if there's a game on Sunday I'm going to make every effort to be there. There's only one reason and it dates back to the very first game I saw two years before enrolling as a student. My late brother couldn't make the game so he gave his tickets to me and a friend. It was a truly incredible game featuring the RPI debut of Ian "Goober" Harrison against #1 Michigan. The Engineers stormed back from a 5-1 deficit to win the game and I was hooked. I love RPI hockey and it's a passion that has stayed with me for 46 seasons (well, 45 with one to the pandemic) that has ranged from the truly awful to some of the best college hockey has ever seen. No matter where we lived there hasn't been one active season during those years that I haven't been to at least one game in Troy and one on the road. It's just part of me and no administration or pandemic inconvenience can really change that.

Great episode of Talkin' Neers right before playoffs, honestly one of our best ever episodes. McIsaac and Gagnon are absolute characters too

                          • Unfortunately I have already made plans for this weekend in advance, so I will be unable to attend. But I will be able to post in here.

interesting playoff info. All 4 road teams this weekend are Ivy League schools and all playoff games are being played in NY State.

I am a non-student going Friday night and Sunday (if there's a game to be played). Family commitment keeps me from going Saturday night. Well said rpi82. I also go back to the Ian Harrison days and made the trips to Boston in the 80s and was in Detroit in 1985. Many years of incredible wins, memorable players, coaches, and plays, and some heartbreaking losses. Regardless of restrictions, feelings about Shirley etc. I set that aside and attend to show my support for the team.
