Deep inside the RPI athletics composite schedule I found this...

"MBB vs Skidmore College | Liberty League Tournament Semifinals

Troy, NY | External spectators allowed; All must provide proof of vaccination and wear masks.

    2pm

Note that there is no such notation for any of the other events slated for 2/26...including hockey vs. Harvard which has an updated start time of 6:00PM

These shots at the administration are becoming a bit gratuitous. For instance, you mentioned Yale, but if you watched our game against them just three days earlier you saw a very sparse crowd that was announceed as 980 but I'll bet they scanned about half that many tickets at the gate. Yale certainly was not in favor of large crowds as I missed my first regular season game at the Whale in roughly 20 years because only season ticket holders were allowed. Even last night for the full house at QU I saw a fair number of empty seats and they had to advertise discounted tickets (something unheard of for a Yale game) to reach that number as many people still don't feel comfortable attending. Just last month Northeastern was playing in front of an empty building due to the spike in cases. The list goes on. We may have been faster to shutdown and slower to open up, but it's not as if this season has been free of concerns and restrictions for schools and fans. Even people that have purchased tickets aren't necessarily attending. I know multiple people (all 50+) that have season tickets for UConn's various winter programs which have effectively become a donation to the school as they sit out this season and hope for better in October.

Edit: Having said that, if they are going to open things up this weekend, why have they not done so? It's not that hard to put together a press release and start selling tickets online. People need some advance notice.

I have it from a reliable source that Liberty League told RPI If they want to host in BB spectators had to be allowed or they were out of tourney.

The blatantly obvious question you conveniently and “gratuitously” failed to ask us if it’s safe to invite Liberty League basketball fans into a stuffy heated RPI gymnasium, then how in the world is it not “safe” to open an unheated cavernous HFH to fans ? The answer is there is no good reason… nor is there any science to back the ban.

The double standard by the administration is nothing short insulting… and they’ve hidden it in a composite schedule to avoid any detection …

There is of course Weird Science. As I recall Kelly LeBrock was a hottie in that one. Seems these days you can use science or statistics to prove or disprove just about anything you want.

I hope the ECAC does the same thing

Shirley would pull them out of the playoffs if it came down to that…

She didn't pull the basketball team out of the playoffs

                    • I think that we are guaranteed of finishing exactly 6th because no one is close enough to catch us, and we are 3 points behind Colgate who has the tiebreaker.

                        • I expect the plan all along was for Marshall to play on Senior Night, and if the team is locked into sixth place, there's even less reason to deny him that honor.

If he plays well against Harvard, then Coach Smith has a decision to make. Does he stick with Marshall for the playoffs, or does he go back to Watson, who appeared to have the #1 goalie spot locked down before recently having some shaky starts?

Correct, RB. We can’t finish anywhere else but 6th.
Waite has some good points. Since the Harvard game means nothing to either team (Harvard will finish 3rd), expect Marshall in net. And it will be an interesting decision next weekend. It may depend on which team we play.

You are correct. Hope that we get a good matchup for the 11th seed

I would go with Watson still. Better year overall. If Marshall stands on his head tomorrow, I would rethink, but as of now, I would pick Watson
