Red always had wisdom to impart or a way to make you smile, even if you were having a bad day. When I joined the team I was more than a little star struck but Red took me aside and reminded me, "They're college kids, same as you. Don't be intimidated." He was a great man. This is a terrible loss.

Four coaches are no longer at the school listed and the new coaches likely have lower compensation, but overall Maine is in the bottom third, so any successfully new coach at Maine may leave for a better paying job.
Sean
First, regarding the unexpected loss of Coach Gendron; my sincere condolences go out to the Maine hockey family and, most importantly, his wife and two daughters. A truly tragic situation to be sure and I hope all involved are comforted by the memory of his life and the legacy he leaves behind.
My apologies for taking this specific thread in a completely less important direction, especially after today's news. However, I'd like to ask Sean if he could somehow find the head coaching salaries of as many of the same schools as are listed here but, from 10 years ago. Would like to see how much those salaries have increased in that decade. Thanks in advance Sean.

So sorry for the loss of Coach Gendron. Being a Yale season ticket holder, I had the honor to sit with Red during the 2013 National Championship banquet at Yale Commons. He was very down to earth and a genuinely nice man. Without Red, Yale doesn't win that championship. The smothering forecheck and defense of that team was his calling card. My sincerest condolences to his family and the Maine Hockey family.YALE HOCKEY

Well, that information is in my spreadsheet, but I took the time to pull out the head coaches compensation numbers from 2010 (the first year I have financials for the public schools) or the earliest year I have Form 990 information and either 2018, '19, '20 or '16 (for Minnesota State). I have included the coach, year, total compensation received (not the same as base salary), percentage change between the two years and the overall program expenses percentage change between the two years for each school (MSU's overall change doesn't include a $4 million athletic facilities charge for 2020) :
