With respect to the overall seeds, as I wrote before, the NCAA did not start seeding anything other than the regionals themselves until 2003. If you look at the top of page 48 of this link, it pretty clearly explains that. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/frozen...urnHistory.pdf

So again, UND and Wisconsin were #1 seeds in the west those two years, but it's anyone's guess as to how they were otherwise seeded.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

    • I think both were ranked #1 in the polls heading into the tournament. Probably too long ago to confirm that though.

        • Time for some BC fun facts NCAA Tournament edition (York era):
          - BC is 4-4 in their last 8 NCAA tournament games since winning the national title in 2012. In the four seasons after, they qualified and alternated one-and-dones (2013/2015) and FF trips with losses in the semifinals (2014/2016). If you look over the previous span to get to the next four previous losses, you'd have to go back through to the 2005 loss to North Dakota in Worcester. The record from that span: an astounding 18-4.
          - BC will play in their first NCAA tournament in 5 years barring any COVID issues. Not a single player has NCAA tournament experience.
          - BC has not played an OT game in the NCAAs since Joe Whitney scored against Coach Failboat and his Brotherhood in 2008.
          - The last BC player to score a goal in the NCAAs at the Times Union Center - Krys Kolanos.
          - The last BC player to score an NCAA goal: Ryan Fitzgerald vs Quinnipiac in the 2016 semifinal.
          - Jerry York is 36-13 overall in the NCAAs at BC. Saturday's game will be his 50th as HC at BC.
          - First team to 3 goals wins: In applicable games where a team scored 3 goals (42 out of 49 games), the first team to 3 goals has a record of 40-2. The only exceptions were both BC wins: the wild overtime victory vs. MSU regionals vs. Ryan Miller in 2000 and the shocking comeback against UML and Hellebuyck in Worcester in 2014.
          - Overtime heroes. There are only 4 of them. Jeff Farkas, Krys Kolanos, Ben Eaves, Joe Whitney.

The Special Teams numbers are also staggering when you look at the split between wins and losses:
          Wins (36): 24.9% PP. 89.4% PK. 12 SHGF, 3 SHGA. ST +/- was +34 (almost +1 per game).
          Losses (13): 10.3% PP. 81% PK. 1 SHGF, 2 SHGA. ST +/- was -6.

          • Wow good stuff. Happy for Wisconsin they won in 2006. They were particularly salty as hell about losing both the Hobey and the game to BC in 2000. Almost irrationally.

            • Under York BC is 1-2 in the NCAA’s at the Garden. They beat tOSU in the 98 semifinal.

BC beat Michigan in the 2000 semifinal in Albany, not Wisconsin. They beat Wisconsin in the final eight when Wisconsin was a #1 seed.

There will be 3, two minute TV timeouts every period. BC, along with every team, will shorten their benches. This favors the more skilled teams.

I expect Kuntar will be back on the 3rd line.

              Go Eagles!

Never said that it was Wisconsin in the semis, just said that we beat them in 2000. Also it was 2001 when BC beat Michigan in Albany.

                • Best regional I ever attended was one BC wasn't even in. 2002 in Worcester. An all eastern team affair featuring BU, Maine, UNH and Cornell. Just a great weekend of hockey and tremendous atmosphere.

There's no doubt, BC's record at Western sites during York's tenure is very impressive, conceding the obvious.

                        • For a not so fun fact, ND has been a 1 or 2 seed five times under Jeff Jackson and only advanced to the FF one time.

They have been a 3 or 4 seed five times and advanced to three FFs (two of those as a 4 seed).

I was in Denver when BC beat ND

But before that ND had knocked off heavily favored Michigan who was loaded with offense.

I felt at the time BC got a break facing the Irish instead of the Wolverines

BC beating UND with Gerbe was special in the semi game

He shot on net and got the rebound after going behind the net and shooting again

                            • Not sure what it involved or how accurate it is but Jeff Cox of NEHJ just posted that he is "Hearing of some trouble involving Notre Dame a the NCAA Northeast Regional".....just guessing but could be Covid related = BC would get bye.

Now multiple sources saying ND has multiple positive cases and is out. What the NCAA should do is rapid test PC and then send them to the game. Its a 2 hour 45min bus ride. I know its past the deadline but it should be about the players and the integrity of the tournament. BC getting a bye and St. Cloud/BU having to play two games in 24 hours is a joke.

                              • The rules are the rules and there should be no exceptions. But hell no to PC, they don't belong either (similar to ND). I don't know enough about COVID (sorry Fauci) but the only team that should be in that game IF they were to bend the rules should be SLU - could they be re-tested and leave their HC at home and play?
