Ralph, I have a suggestion for part 2 of the offseason thread since it looks like we will have no issues reaching that point.

Ralph doesn’t put player names in thread titles

Edit: RPI offseason 2: offseason reopened

            Bummer

By the way, I saw the RPI Alumni Association is having Dave Smith on a webinar Thursday afternoon. Is anyone going on it? I personally cannot but hope someone can report back here with any info

Edit: found the event online. Here is the registration link https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/regi...QSOCt79XvzgMKA

Yes, although I like sezenzck's suggestion, it would be bad luck putting in the name of someone who could still decide to go elsewhere.

Today is 4 May 2020. There are 152 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 3 October 2020 for the start of next season.

Last year the football season ticket payment was due before these people will even be back to work. Mine was paid on July 15. Don't remember when hockey season ticket money was due but my application was received in early August and paid on August 16 (just shortly after they will return to work). Not sure I like reading between these lines.

Does anyone know just how deeply the athletic staff was furloughed??
I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but the conversations that are going on right now in higher ed are whether or not to even have humans on campuses in the fall. Athletics is way down the list of what the leaders are thinking about (especially SAJ). Most colleges require deposits for the fall semester by early or mid May...early reports locally indicate that grad enrollments are up, with undergrad and foreign deposits received are WAY down.

You can imagine the conversations going on all over the country between parents and children about whether to go away to college in the fall. Multiply that with a New York governor who doesn't appear to be in any hurry to do anything that might involve getting his mortally wounded economy up and running...and reason for optimism for the fall is hard to find.

My hunch (I hope I'm wrong) is that college presidents, especially in the northeast U.S. will elect to punt on having student on site for the fall semester with the hopes that the pandemic statistics and testing settle to the point that they can bring students back on campus in January.

Got a response to my email to Coach Smith (see previous posts). He said they are currently planning on a full go for the season and will adjust as necessary. He added everything is still up in the air. But he said he would bring our suggestions to the people on campus. One thing is certain: I think we will know a lot more in the month or so ahead. As areas of the country open up and people go out and about, in many cases, they are letting their guard down and demanding the capability to decide for themselves whether to wear a mask or keep 6 feet apart. I would be very surprised if the cases and deaths go down. So I think we will have an idea soon whether we can all go to the games, especially with only 2% infection rate here.

If you mean current students, I believe current students can register. I know I already get emails for Boston area alumni events. But if you mean those not affiliated with RPI, I don't think they can.

Take a shot. If we had finished 11th again I doubt this would be happening. It's clearly intended to leverage the good feelings at the end of the year so why not share it with some of the non-alumni fans?

I haven't received an invitation yet, but was able to register using sezenack's link. It didn't require using my alumni username/password (which I generally can't remember anyway). All it asked for is name, email address and graduation year. All of those match the information in my alumni file, but I doubt they are checking before sending out the viewing credentials.

I'm hoping Coach Dave can say something about the incoming recruits. I noticed that Penn State issued their release last week (yes, including one of those that shall not be named) so it's that time of year. Unfortunately, it's more likely that the virus will actually push back such announcements from many schools.

I believe the #7 pick in the USHL phase 1 draft is Eric Healey's son.
