How do you feel about the loss of Mastrosimone? My view, certainly the loss of a decent goal scorer, but not a devastating development.

or ask what type of guy comes in and waits for half the season to fly by before doing his job?

I know Jay is not Mike Hastings, but I think he'll do well. I give our "hot streak" credit to him because we looked better than we ever did in past 4 season. Happy with Pando over Lang.

You have to read carefully. I never suggested Jay is Albie 2.0. I merely said like Albie, Jay lacks head coaching experience, and that's my concern. That hardly amounts to 2.0. It is a similarity, not a continuation.

There's no point in telling people they're wrong if you're just gonna be the dbag who claims to have all this info and not reveal anything. Nobody is asking for your alleged source.

I think it's a stretch to say Jay was the reason for the better record after XMas. It was because guys came back from injury, etc and because the strength of schedule in Jan-March was easier than the first semester schedule (look up one of my previous posts on the subject) and then when all the cards were on the table we lost big game after big game. Not sold on that at all.

Only one person with a formal interview? That seems like a sham process to me. But I have been saying since BU brought in Pandolfo that they would let Albie be a lame duck and then hand it over to Pandolfo.

Jay's lack of HC experience is a legit concern. However, it's entirely unfair to consider him Albie 2.0 just because he comes in with no HC experience and as our former associate HC.
It was clear the team excelled when Jay reportedly took on more player development responsibility this season after Christmas break. His resume coming into this job is very different from Albie's. IJay spent numerous years specifically in player development at multiple levels with the Bruins. Albie cut his chops mainly as a talent evaluator and recruiter. For the head coaching position, it's more important to have the former skill than the latter. Talent evaluation and recruiting can be handled mostly by associate/assistant HCs. This is where Jay would need to make a very strong hire - to me, Joe Pereira would be a slam dunk backfill as associate HC and the perfect complement.
The other big difference between Jay and Albie - one hung a banner at BU and has his name on the Cup twice, then came within one game of doing it again as a coach. Winners win wherever they go. For all of Albie's recruiting success, he never won anything anywhere at any level.
Re: Hastings - with Michigan State reportedly set to hire the USNTDP coach, I find it hard to believe he was a legitimate candidate anywhere. MSU had zero reason to pass on him if he was interested. My guess is both them and BU might've had some exploratory discussions, but nothing further and may not have even had a formal interview.
As far as I know, Jay is the only person who had a formal interview with President Brown at BU. In 2018, both Albie and Rick Bennett did.Last edited by Terrier86; 05-02-2022, 08:43 PM.

I think you'd be on to something if we were talking the top players in college hockey. But I doubt this was the case here. I do know that Jack St. Ivany hooked on with Tom Brady's clothing line last year while he was still playing at BC so who really knows.. But I am not well versed as to what college hockey players have been able to land in NIL deals.
