    Does anyone know if BU (or BC) was represented at the coaches meeting this week in Florida
    One of the items on agenda was to allow in season tournaments to play a regulation 20 minute full strength overtime
    Certainly would need advocates to make this happen in beanpot
    Also all overtime rules on agenda

    Hastings now being mentioned for Mich State job. Mich State has the money to make that happen and it would probably be more of a fit for him than BC/BU. We'll see.

    Hastings = Homerun
    Pandolfo = Walk
    Unknown with head coaching experience = Single
    Unknown with recent success as a head coach = Double

    BU Hockey: Wow Me

    Hah, no. The next time the DFP writers report something that isn't in a press release will be the first time. They have no one to ask softball questions to in a press conference so that means they have no info to write on.

    Gotchya. Agree - if BC gets Hastings then advantage BC.

    There's really no evidence Jay would be a great hire, though.

    Hastings would indeed be a home run hire with a proven winning record! As much as we like Pandolfo we cannot afford another learn on the job coach with an uncertain outcome.

    [QUOTE=sigx15;n3733864]"I’m hearing per sources that MN State head coach Mike Hastings is very much in the mix at Boston University. Hastings was endorsed by former BU coach David Quinn..."/QUOTE]

    I wouldn't dismiss this completely out-of-hand. In addition to the DQ connection, Hastings and Northeastern coach Jerry Keefe have coached together in the USA Hockey national program and his son is an NU student (though not a player). So, it's not like he doesn't have ties to the Boston area.

Mel Pearson would have taken that going into the season. Now I am curious to see how they look next year and if they find a way to remain in the hunt though. I have given up on the age complaints. Nothing is stopping BC/BU from bringing in top older players as well. Miles Wood and Mike Hardman were good examples of that for BC. Came in as older freshmen and had a huge impact. Up to the coach to find that right mix. Can't blame Hastings for not attracting first round talent to Mankato. Maybe he would if they were in the NCHC.
    There is a difference in bringing in true freshman at 18 and a freshman in at 20. BU/BC bring in NTDP players who are usually true freshman at 18. Other schools bring in freshman at 20. Age does matter. Michigan relied on young players despite having upper classmen. Beniers, Power, Borderleau, Brisson, Hughes, Johnson, etc were all true freshman when they came in and despite being all sophomores where younger than most freshman players. It does need to be a mix but that's been proven hard to do for BU/BC recently for some reason.
