Not to change the subject but for those of you following Wolverines in the World Championship tourney, not only are there now five playing for USA and one for Canada but Brian Lebler (class of 2010) is playing for Austria. The certainties of life...Death, Taxes and bad B1G Referees.

who would want a team and their fans involved in something they don't want to be involved in?
dear mel et al... please don't let the door hit you on the way out.
and if being dishonorable and deceitful is part of being the "best program" - have at it. last i heard their "contractless coach" is still being investigated for a reason, or two...
people are still misunderstanding the reasons of why all this is a blessing, possibly even for all sides - which is completely independent of how the exit was made.
they won't be missed...

They won't be missed? Bold statement when the GLI has yet to even take place in Grand Rapids--without Michigan. And I am a fan of a Beanpot school who has always enjoyed the GLI. I hope it succeeds but it's not even close to a guarantee that it will moving forward.

Regardless of what "side" you are on, I feel this is a win for everyone involved. Michigan decided they no longer cared about the GLI; they are out. Tech/State/Ferris/Western are happy to participate; they are in. It's not an NHL venue, but it's a damn good one in a fun city. I don't think with proper marketing (and geography on their side) attendance will be a huge concern - that of course remains to be seen. I look at this as an amicable breakup. You want out, ok, but I'm keeping the dog. Cool? OK. Let's drop the puck and have some fun!

I'm sure the haters will not like this- but seeing that the number of players that could be at the World Jrs could be more than a line, it's a significant problem to a program when so many players are playing for their country. So I very much get where Mel is coming from.
But, hey, if you want to hate, go for it. You are far, far, far from the first. And you won't be the last.
