Why my opinion matters is easy: I voice my displeasure should Michigan's (allegedly) untoward actions* end up hurting North Dakota's chances. And, pending results from an investigation, that may have occurred.

This has been 180+ days. Dare I ask if this one is being slow-walked.

*namely the allegation that Pearson told players to lie on Covid tracking forms, forms of which we do not know the dates and potential ramifications, hence the investigation
Personally, anyone who hurts UND's chances is ok by me.

it's just a guess, but my dentist would probably say the same exact thing...

any everything with garlic on it is better.

        • Not to change the subject but for those of you following Wolverines in the World Championship tourney, not only are there now five playing for USA and one for Canada but Brian Lebler (class of 2010) is playing for Austria.

Opposing fans are happy Michigan is gone but I have seen nothing to suggest Michigan or Michigan fans care about this. But in any event, good luck to the GLI without its best program.

                        while indirectly, you said it...

who would want a team and their fans involved in something they don't want to be involved in?

dear mel et al... please don't let the door hit you on the way out.

and if being dishonorable and deceitful is part of being the "best program" - have at it. last i heard their "contractless coach" is still being investigated for a reason, or two...

people are still misunderstanding the reasons of why all this is a blessing, possibly even for all sides - which is completely independent of how the exit was made.

                        they won't be missed...

                        • They won't be missed? Bold statement when the GLI has yet to even take place in Grand Rapids--without Michigan. And I am a fan of a Beanpot school who has always enjoyed the GLI. I hope it succeeds but it's not even close to a guarantee that it will moving forward.

Whether it does or doesn't at least will not be a result of active obstruction by one of the participants.

                            • Regardless of what "side" you are on, I feel this is a win for everyone involved. Michigan decided they no longer cared about the GLI; they are out. Tech/State/Ferris/Western are happy to participate; they are in. It's not an NHL venue, but it's a damn good one in a fun city. I don't think with proper marketing (and geography on their side) attendance will be a huge concern - that of course remains to be seen. I look at this as an amicable breakup. You want out, ok, but I'm keeping the dog. Cool? OK. Let's drop the puck and have some fun!

Meh. Could barely watch it when we were in it- just went once when it moved to the Pizzarena. And hardly anyone was there. It was fun to see the games, but having it be the same thing every year started to get kind of old. Yea, I know the beanpot has the same 4 teams over and over- but since it's at a time where players, students, and other fans are there- the atmosphere is probably quite different. I don't know the full history, but my impression is that Tech did this to get fans in SE MI a way to see games live. Which may have worked 30-40 years ago- but when we went, there were not enough fans to justify the expense- even when Tech fans were the highest population.

I'm sure the haters will not like this- but seeing that the number of players that could be at the World Jrs could be more than a line, it's a significant problem to a program when so many players are playing for their country. So I very much get where Mel is coming from.

But, hey, if you want to hate, go for it. You are far, far, far from the first. And you won't be the last.
