OT is 3x3 but because there were matching minors, it was 4x4 until the next whistle.

Not sure what CW's problem was, but I did notice when Maine called its TO the video feed died for a few seconds. Maybe the CW never picked it back up.

Give them a little credit, that film needs to be smuggled down I-95 in the wheel well of a logging truck.

          • The players that Barr brought in late are the best players on the team.

I was thinking this years coverage was better.

              • Sounds like it was a tremendously entertaining game. I was in Durham for the UNH-UVM game with my dad (a UVM alum) and that was kind of a snoozefest, a 2-1 final with about 20 shots per team.

                • Because it was ot and 3 on 3, is it a ncaa win?
I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.

I was wondering too so read this:

"(1) 3-on-3 overtimes ‘count’ toward a team’s win-loss record in the official history books. However, for pairwise ranking purposes, a 3-on-3 OT win counts as just 55% of a “win” and a loss is 45% of a “loss.” The net result of this is that overtime, while fun to watch, has an incredibly small impact on the final rankings and is not much different in the grand scheme of things from the game ending in a tie.

                    (2) Tie games after 3-on-3 go to a shootout, but those results have no bearing at all on the national rankings.

                    (3) This is the part that I really hate - In order to accurately document a team’s record, you basically have to both list its win-loss-tie record inclusive of 3-on-3 OTs, as well as then break down how many OT wins/losses and shootout wins/losses it has. For instance, a team that has played six games, won 2 in regulation, lost 1 in regulation, lost 1 in overtime, won 1 in overtime, and won 1 in a shootout, has their record listed for posterity as 3-2-1, but to be correctly documented in the standings, you have to show that they are 2-1-3 over 60 minutes, 1-1 in OT, and 1-0 in shootouts.

(3a) And now, according to Jimmy Connelly of USCHO, it looks like the NCAA selection committee is basically not even going to take 3-on-3 overtime results into consideration at all as it selects the NCAA tournament field except as a tiebreaker, even though the results are considered “wins” for historical record-keeping purposes."

                    • I’m at a complete loss as to why Chuck Murray hasn’t commented on the girth of the coaching staff at D-III Southern Maine which for years despite a great school and their own rink has always been terrible.

I figured it wasnt going to count as a W. Still good game and a step forward.

I will if you want me to, but it's a D-3 program I didn't know even existed until you just mentioned it.

Congrats to Coach Barr for his first of doubtless many W's to come - regardless of whether it's really a W or not, based on the preceding discussion, which I honestly appreciated. Who knew a *win could be so complicated, eh? I suspect you folks will look back at last night's first period someday as the nadir of the post-Walsh era, and the between-periods discussion as the start of road back to the top in earnest. There will be ups and downs, but I truly believe you've got the right guy in charge.

And FWIW I only recently noticed that Fortier has some competition in the girth category from NU's long-time assistant/brand new head coach Jerry Keefe. Furthermore, UMBC's soccer goalie looks like he can give them both a run for their money (or at least for first dibs in the AYCE dinner buffet line). So never let it be said I'm singling your guy out for no reason. You're welcome. :-)

No one recruited Brazeale, Barr brought him in.
He likely will prove out to be a good one, already showing good promise. Know he can finish off at the net.

                              • I can’t beleive the refs blew that one so bad. That was a good goal and no way should have been a penalty on Merrimack.
