Post season. No poll will get you in. Recruits get that. After watching polls and PWRs for 40 years, I get how worthless they are to continued program success. Making it to post season based on high PWR rankings continues a tradition and gets recruits attention. Being able to say we made it to the top ten in a poll? Worthless.$90(more) for a drink holding ledge and a Maine blanket, but the views still great.
Just win.....

Only the hardcore fans delve into the PWR rankings.....polls are the public face of college hockey and Maine is nowhere to be seen which really doesn't reflect reality but will be accepted as such.I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.

Polls dont mean much. They dont help win games.
You play well and win the rest takes care of itself.
Having said that I do look at PWR only to gage who looks positioned to make the tourney.
At the end of the day after the regular season play if you dont keep going your home fishing or golfing. Doesn't matter where you finished in the polls.
Recruits factor in a whole bunch more other than just the team uscho poll #.Last edited by NorthMike; 03-01-2023, 07:35 AM.

It astounds me that people still reference that silly BS.
It's been completely meaningless for a long, long time,

Enough about polls. They only matter at gentlemen's clubs, correct ? :-) But I think they should in reality more or less reflect what the PWR is saying, and that is based on numbers not opinions, which are, as you know, like azzholes which everyone has. Howz that for a run on sentence, geezus.
Congrats to Breen for being named HE player of the month.Last edited by acs64; 03-01-2023, 07:48 AM.I believe in equality of effort. In life, in hockey in everything.

At the end of the day a winning program with great facilities is what most are looking for. We're getting there but still have a ways to go. Hopefully Barr has sold the new AD on expediting the locker room upgrades and training facilities as those are the most glaring needs. Let's hope they save superficial upgrades like a new scoreboard or ribbon boards until the big needs are done.

I hope that the new AD lays out a clearer picture by the end of the school year to the general public about how the new facilities plan is progressing with timelines and the order in which things are being built. If they want a lot of smaller donations....they might want to communicate things more clearly in this regard.

As it should be.
Hope the announcement is more than the scoreboard.

The kids themselves grasp what's relevant. Betcha every Bear knows Maine's PWR as we speak.

The USCHO poll and PWR typically come into pretty perfect alignment by the point in the season that PWR can be reasonably calculated. I haven't looked at the two of them side by each this week - someone who has can tell me if I'm way off base.bigmrg74: "You can't drink the day away if you don't start early!"
SledDog: "UncleRay seems to be the most sensible one here tonight."
