Ted's is great to have around, but Gallagher's was my favorite.

Ted's, of course, has been an institution in the Capital District since before most of us, even geezers like me, ever enrolled at the Tute. I always viewed Ted's fish fries as the Capital District's local food specialty, like hoagies and cheesesteaks are to Philadelphia.

The Fox host began an interview with the owner of Ted's, but they lost the connection after about a minute and never got it back. The viewer was left with the impression that Ted's would be permanently closed, effective immediately.

I did an Internet search, and other than the Fox video, I can find nothing indicating that Ted's was closing permanently. I did find an item on wgna.com, dated five days ago, saying that Ted's would be closing on Sundays, but was still vigorously trying to hire workers in order to remain open the other six days of the week. At no time during the abbreviated Fox video did Ted's owner say anything to the effect that "Well, a few days ago I said I was going to be closed on Sundays, but now I've decided that I'm not going to open at all, any day of the week."

Perhaps somebody closer to the Capital District than I am can tell me - is it true that Ted's is permanently closed, or is it still the case that it is closed only on Sundays, and the Fox interview got cut off before that point could be clarified?

Hard to believe, but it appears that it is true. They just opened a big brand new location across from UAlbany this winter. Wow. This is what happens when you pay people to stay home....another blow to the already hobbled restaurant scene in NY.

Edit #2 -- I reached out to food writer Steve Barnes at the T/U and he said the Fox story is wrong and that Ted's were closing on Sundays (just Sundays) due to staffing, but they remain open Mon - Sat.

Salaries for assistant slots tend to be low and variable across schools, and not always easy to increase the wages to retain someone.
My point was that it was my understanding was that the asst. coaches weren't being paid at all during the year (I haven't been able to verify this). If that is so, it wouldn't be too hard to decide to leave for another job -- even if it was a lateral move financially --when daily realities like rent/mortgages and car payments are considered.

          • Sezenack or any others who are registered at RPI,

After many years, RPI has cut off access to the student directory for people who don't have an RPI account. This doesn't surprise me. Would it be possible to check periodically if any of the four transfers are in the directory and what their majors are? They were not there on Saturday. Also, I don't know about the newest women recruit, Meg(an) Hildner.

That is not true. The asst. coaches came off of furlough in August

I tried logging in and it didn't work for me. My guess is they made this change because of the huge hack into the system. Really weird that it will not let me log in though when I should be able to.

Is RPI's network even back online after the hack? Haven't seen much in the local media.

I don't think this was related to the hack since I was able to check the directory all along.

                              • Finally got the directory to work.
                                In the student directory:
                                Jack Agnew, BMGT
                                Timothy Walsh, BMGT
                                Jakob Lee, BMGT
                                Meg Hildner, MECL
