RE, what can you tell me about Mr. Dornbach? He's from my town and quite the youth coach right now (will coach our Bantam A's this year, along with a former NHLer). And his kid is one of the top in his age group.

      Thanks!

I don't know what number he was, but I would think any BSU list that doesn't include Joel Otto is pretty much worthless.

For #22 how about the flying Fin who scored the first goal at Conte Forum? (Nah, go with Scarlet's suggestion.)

Thank God Colin came along or you might have had to pick Sabo for #33.

And where's the love for Jacque Jourbert for #24? I'd at least give him a "c2" Or Peter Marshall! I think I'd pick Peter Marshall over Mike Sullivan. There. I said it.

Re: By the Numbers: Your All-Time Roster

1: Charlie Effinger, close second Alain Chevrier. Picked Charlie because he's either first or second in numbers at Miami, either him or Zat could have been a great 4 year goalie if they didn't have to platoon
                    2: Boyd Sutton
                    3: Bobby Marshall
                    4: Andrew Backen
                    5: Joe Cook
                    6: Dan Boyle
                    7: Steve Wilson
                    8: Mike Orn, second Guerin
9: Rick Kuraly, second Gary Delonge. Tommy will probably get some consideration in a couple years though
                    10: Kevyn Adams
11: Rico Blasi for now, Camper soon (unless we also include what Rico has done behind the bench)
                    12: Greg Hogeboom
                    14: Nick Jardin
15: Barry Schutte, was tempted to put Stephen Dennis here, didn't have great numbers but was one of the best defensive forwards
16: Steve Morris, only member of the 200 point club
                    17: Brian Savage
                    18: Derek Edwardson
                    19: Matt Davis, soon Palmer
                    20: Vitale Andreev
21: Alec Martinez, second Jason Mallon
                    22: Randy Robitaille
23: Andy Greene, second Jason Deskins
                    24: Chris Bergeron
                    25: Ernie Hartlieb
                    26: Ryan Jones
                    27: Todd Rohloff
                    28: Jaan Luik
                    29: Jason Crane
30: Chuck Thuss, Burleigh was on some pretty bad teams so his numbers got hurt
32: Only players are Trags and Whitacre, guess gotta go with the guy who at least saw more than 4 minutes of action, Petraglia
                    33: Eustace King
                    34: Brandon "headcase" Crawford-West
                    35: Dan Kodatsky
                    37: Jeff Zatkoff
                    39: Ian Olsen by default

Goldy, well we're going way back with Dornbach but my recollection is a very skilled forward who put up good numbers (106 pts in 110 games, I looked that up ). Those Miami teams were not strong but had a few forwards who were good (Todd Channell, Mike Ciotti I think overlapped a year or two with Dornbach). I am not sure of this, but Dornbach may have played on the US junior team somewhere in there and I don't think he played all four years at Miami. There were some "transition" things going on here at that time. He was drafted in a late round, but went to Europe, I believe. But what I do remember for sure is that he could do some things that Miami players at that time could not do. Slick (not in a negative way) centerman would be my description. The early Miami teams had a lot of character (especially the early 80s) but not a lot of high skill, highly recruited type of guys. Dornbach was more in the latter category.

Hope that helps and I hope Dorny is doing well. There a still some of us left who remember him.

Sounds like his kid. His kid is a little waterbug type with great stick skills. Dorny coached the Squirt A team last season and will coach the Bantam A team this season. Having success as a coach at least. Don't know him personally though, just see him around the rinks and one of my kid's best buds played for him last season.
