Would someone explain the point value system pls, thx. Assume it's the same for M&W? The women play 4x4 OT hockey?
Thought the WIH team would manhandle SLU after they were routed by Clarkson. What happened? Women's team is successful, but still difficult to know for sure with such limited, repetitious, weaker competition. No. 1 PWR though and Clarkson No. 3 with a .500 record.

Bill - 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime win. Colgate has 4 WIR and 1 OTW (last night) - (4 x 3) + 2 = 14. The last three numbers in the six number W-L-T line aren't cumulative but rather are detail for the W & L columns. I believe the women play 3x3 in overtime as well. The teams were playing 4x3 when the game ended due to a slashing penalty on St.L. I am pretty sure anywhere they use 3x3 in OT, a penalty results in an extra player for the "victimized" team rather than a loss of a player for the perpetrating team.
Stat line shows Colgate dominating everywhere but goals (shots were 38 to 18 and 'Gate won 53 of 74 face-offs - just under 72%). St. L's game agains Clarkson was their first of the season - Clarkson's 8th so that probably had something to do with the score. Plus the St. L goalie last night only played the 3rd period versus Clarkson. She gave up 1 goal on 15 shots and her full stat line for four and a quarter periods of play is a respectable 0.925 SAV and 3.08 GAA. Its possible she's their new #1. As for Clarkson remaining ranked with a .500 record, I would note that their only losses come from games against some small school in the middle-of-nowhere Central New York that none of us has likely ever heard of...

Appreciate the info, Gate93. Did come across the 4x3OT and realized they added a player. Yes, the stat sheets did favor 'Gate, noticed that, too.
Would like better recap videos instead of blurry Twitter feeds. SLU's was very nicely done - with sound - and much clearer video quality. Will post future Qs on Women's Forum, sorry.

Andrew Farrier in goal for 'Gate.
Emil Zetterquist in goal for Saint Lawrence.
Saint Lawrence's Nicholas Trela scored a power-play goal.
Saint Lawrence's Kaden Pickering scored a goal that Farrier no doubt wants back.
Saint Lawrence's David Jankowski scored a goal.
Saint Lawrence 8, Colgate 7, SOG after one.
Saint Lawrence 3, Colgate 0, score after one.
Elliott McDermott scores for Colgate 62 seconds into the second period.
Jeff Stewart read Zetterquist like a book and scored for Colgate.
Saint Lawrence's Kaden Pickering immediately gets it back, making it 4-2 SLU.
Saint Lawrence 4, Colgate 2, score after two.
A better second period than the first for Colgate, but they need to step it up another notch in the third to beat this much-improved Saint Lawrence team.
Colgate 24, Saint Lawrence 12, SOG midway through the third.
Alex Young scores for Colgate with less than one minute left, after Farrier was pulled in favor of an extra attacker.
Colgate 30, Saint Lawrence 17, final SOG.
Saint Lawrence 4, Colgate 3, final score.

the effort is there, it almost always there...but we were not prepared to play hockey in period #1 and we're going to have serious problems when the goaltending is poor...looking forward to a chippy, competitive game tomorrow night and hope we're ready to play at the opening bell...one could reasonably surmise that after being outshot 18-2 in period #3 and ot of the last game that SLU would come out with a purpose...

Cornell Big Red’s tentative schedule, 2021-22...
Here is what I have, so far.
Need Exhibitions, OOC, & Colgate.

Also I'm not sure which Regionals are Fri-Sat & which are Sat-Sun. They are just listed as place holders. As in the past, if you have info about errors or additions, post it and I’ll update this. Attached is the ECAC schedule, minus the traveling partners.

At the half-way point ECAC point totals are as follows: Q-Pac 17, Clarkson 15, SLU 14, Colgate 8. We have ONE regular session win this year (60 minutes), a 4-2 win over SLU...for a very long time regarding football and (amazingly) for several years for b-ball the expectation level is high; both programs are successful and expect to be successful. Sadly, in MIH - one of our "emphasis" sports - no such sentiment exists and hasn't existed for well over a decade...

Help me out here. Why is Colgate's womens team consistently - at least for the last several years since Greg Fargo came aboard - at the top of the ECAC and also highly ranked in the national polls? And yet our MIH team is always in the middle of the pack or lower? Is there some trick to recruiting that Greg Fargo knows that could be imparted to the Silver Puck Club folks and DV? The disparity in the success of the two programs is astonishing. Not trying to bash anyone here; it just seems like such a success difference; am curious.
These 4,5,6 and 7 PM start times are annoying. I know why they do it, but it's too early IMO. Last night I missed much of the game because of the different start times that were noted on the website vs USHCO. Anyone out there find this crazy?Last edited by ColSkate65; 01-24-2021, 11:05 AM.COLGATE HOCKEY:"Is this the year?"
