    Re: 2019 USCHO Pairwise Predictor

Now Providence gets in in most scenarios with BC winning and BGSU is out. This is bizarre.

But BGSU still gets in with a win tomorrow night.

        Obviously

Assuming the predictor is working and my cookies aren't all screwed up...

        Done deals
        Fargo: St Cloud vs AHA
        Manchester: UMass vs Harvard
Providence: MSUM/UMD vs Providence (if PC makes it)

        Likely:
        Fargo: Denver vs Cornell
Allentown: UMD/MSUM vs Penn State/ND; Ohio State vs Clarkson/BGSU or Clarkson vs Penn State/ND/BGSU
        Providence: NU/QC vs ASU/BGSU
        Manchester: QC/NU vs BGSU/ASU

Hard to see any nightmare scenarios for the NCAA this year. Fargo is solid, the committee loves putting PC in Providence and they're getting a local team, Allentown is getting either ND or host PSU plus Ohio State or Clarkson, Manchester is getting two, possibly three, local teams and/or a novelty in ASU. Even if BC and Penn State pull the upsets and there are 2 HEA 4-seeds, it works out because Penn State moves up to 12.

Still some drama left on the final day but we do have a good idea where teams are going.

          Re: 2019 USCHO Pairwise Predictor

From the looks of it Cornell and Harvard make it 12 locks plus ND-PSU winner and AIC-Niagara winner leaving 2 spots left. BGSU and BC take them if they both win and then Providence would be out. If BC loses both Providence and BGSU will be in. If BGSU loses they will be out if BC wins so Providence is in with either a BC or BGSU loss.

I think we ought to salute BGSU for even getting this far after the horror of the Bowling Green Massacre.

Congrats on earning a one seed, Mankato/Duluth! Now head way east and play a team in their home city! Effing ridiculous. Not a nightmare scenario for NCAA but it is a nightmare for hockey fans and I don't even like those teams.

This happens every year. And Qpac *****ed up a storm because they were a three seed in Fargo a few years ago.

Its a national tournament. Expect to hear whining the other way when Denver gets placed in Fargo with St Cloud. "You're just recreating the NCHC tournament."

The current format leaves a TON to be desired.

There is no format that's going to please everyone so the NCAA is going with the one that guarantees it the most money.

To be the best you have to beat the best, or at least win wherever you get seeded. Still surprised that they’ve never scheduled any regionals in Colorado, a lot more accessible than a lot of other regional sites. When CC gets their new barn World Arena would make for a pretty prime spot IMO

There have been several Regionals at World Arena in the past, and Pepsi Center hosted regionals as a trial before hosting the F4. Need CC, AFA, or DU to bid to host, which hasn’t happened in some years.

They put a regional in Denver once. If an arena wants to host them put together a bid. Right now no one out west seems interested.

FWIW, Colorado has hosted more Frozen Fours (15) than any other state.
