    Re: 2019 USCHO Pairwise Predictor

To my knowledge, the only team actively bidding out west is North Dakota (Fargo and Sioux Falls). There is a substantial up front cost to be a host and the criteria for selecting a viable location is tricky. We all know that home sites aren’t considered anymore, and the NCAA prefers to not have a regional in an NHL arena, rather saving those for the frozen four. So what does that leave us with? Not a lot of options really.

I meant since the tournament expanded to 16 with the regional format. UNH was famously forced to play there as a #1 seed because of hosts/intraconference games.

Has anyone let the Lowell Sun editor know the River Hawks have already been eliminated so he doesn't have a coronary tomorrow?

Reading the list of demands the NCAA puts hosts through I can't see how any host turns a profit.

FWIW, Yale and SHU have applied to co-host in the coming years at Bridgeport. In the past, Fairfield U hosted the regionals with Yale, at least SHU has a hockey team. That said, has there ever been a year when co-hosts both made the NCAA tournament? Would or did the committee keep them both home or ship out the lower seed?

To give a 4 seed home ice is ridiculous. Especially Providence, who isn’t the host school.

Totally agree it happened when providence won that title a few years ago. They were the 4 seed non host and were placed in providence when their seed should have been sent out either west or midwest i cant remember.

Providence should have been in Fargo- Quinnipiac got sent there instead. It wasn't even a case of there being a clear advantage for both halves of the swap or at least one advantage and one neutral- they straight up shipped QU off from Providence to Fargo to make it happen.

It's never happened so we have no idea what the NCAA would do.

It's still true. And it's not even close.

Truth be told that was done just so the easterners could drink coors legally

Judging by the results, they must have enjoyed that privilege liberally.

Boston College is eliminated. The field is set. All that's left is positioning.
