“Former Northeastern F TJ Walsh is headed to RPI out of the transfer portal. Just completed his soph. year at NU.”- College Hockey News

Walsh is very talented. Lots of skill and speed, although he is undersized. Struggled with injuries at Northeastern and also got inconsistent playing time there. He's a very different player than Chase Zieky but the move reminds of that. Talent player from a Hockey East school that was great in juniors but didn't get going once he got to college

Walsh originally committed to BC. He was at the USNTDP camp but did not make the team.

Ashbrook and Savory played this season without having to sit out a year. I wonder if Walsh will get a waiver or if those two only got waivers because we cancelled our season. This is all quite confusing.

I think it has been widely reported that the NCAA is almost certainly granting a one-time waiver of the normal "sit out a year" rule for all affected sports. That is what is really driving the transfer portal activity. Will also be big on the basketball side.

Wow. How much time did it take to search down all the transfer portal news?

It took a long time when I decided to start it because there were hundreds to catch up on. Once I caught up, it has not been too bad. I know I'm missing some, but I believe I have all the important entries and a high percentage covered.

I deleted some previous replies I made this morning because I now realize you were referring to the CHN page, which still identifies a one-year penalty for transfers, and not the Sports Illustrated piece I subsequently linked to. I assume that the CHN page will be updated not long after the NCAA meets this week to reflect the without penalty transfer.
