The assistants are recruiters also. McCloskey is an example of a asst coach who could recruit better talent and had a nice pipeline in the BCHL. If a 15-10 record is the best you've had in ten years then you might wanna try a different approach.

Posting his best record last season should at least have given him an improved platform for recruiting - traditional and/or portal - but so far I'm not seeing that. Since his extension, the best you can say is MS7 & crew have been treading water, reacting to the unexpected departure of the entire goalie team, which reeks of PPP in and of itself. As they say, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. All at a time when MS7 should be able to sell a story of "most improved team in the best conference in D-1 hockey". And even if this next season exceeds the last one ... what's it all going to add up to, what's it gonna mean, if two years from now, he hasn't capitalized on a two year jump, and the program ends up back in the lowest HEA quadrant yet again?!?
Maybe I'm being harsh here, but if this next recruiting season doesn't see some major victories, I'm not sure anything of note will have happened to justify staying put in the mediocre middle, which is what it's starting to look like ...Last edited by Chuck Murray; 08-13-2024, 12:40 AM.Sworn Enemy of the Perpetually Offended

What is the status of the proposed renovations to the Whittemore? Sousa said the commitment to the renovations has already been helpful to recruiting. I don't think any dirt has been moved yet. Is it fully funded? Can somebody provide info?

I think you could be on to something. However in taking a closer look, our good friend Mr. Hellsten, did not fare very well against our top four HE teams. I believe he was 2 and 9. Surprising given how most of us viewed him. Still a great pick up who contributed to the first good year in a while.
I still think that the coming season will go as Jared da Whale goes.
