You never know the positional needs of specific teams, their financial/scholarship situations versus the player’s needs, etc. but openings do exist. In this case we have a 99 playing Tier II that seems to have had a disagreement with the coaching staff on the best development path. He made his choice and the staff apparently made theirs. Time to wish him well and move on.
Absolutely true. You just have to wonder though when you have a kid in your system, fairly highly touted, for so many years and then he is suddenly told there is no spot for him. Not unprecedented especially with a new coach running the show but still not something we have seen here in Troy much. We have had a few decommit on their own (some are those we do not name!) but usually not involuntarily and certainly not after 4-5 years. But as you say, we move on (and I hope upward) as this is a weekend on the road for us where we must show improvement and just cannot be overwhelmed

He was not the only one who was on our list for a long time and won't show up. He was, however, the longest unless Babichuk also doesn't show up.

One more thing is the question of cost. It would not surprise me if Bendorf was to get a full scholarship, and Smith figures he can get two players almost as good, each for a partial. I think that Smith is trying to spread the wealth around more than SA did. E.g., no more walk-on third string goalie.

I think that we should close the book on JB until he scores a hat trick against us.

I was envisioning something similar. Mercyhurst hasn’t exactly been a frequent opponent on the men’s side (more common for the women I believe), but if Emil Ohrvall were to end up joining Bendorf in Erie, we should probably not schedule them for a few years.

I had thought he had been the longest, thanks for confirming.

Agreed! You have to think that boys who were forced elsewhere will carry a bit of a grudge and it could show up on the ice.

The years the men's recruits are listed as committed for are not necessarily accurate.
The dates on which some of the women are listed as committing on may be considerably after the actual dates.
I am assuming that Neutral Zone regards their Star ratings as public because they tweet them with committals.

Brett Miller is Cedar Rapids' backup again and Jack Brackett is in the lineup. Hopefully Miller will get some action at CR and won't just sit on the bench for two weeks.

If you clik on Miller’s name in the Boxscore it shows he played 1 game with a 6+ GAA. Also shows he’s uncommitted so I think it’s someone else

If you look closely you will see that was a preseason game which he played elsewhere.
