With all the emphasis placed on (high) draft picks, that must have resulted in multiple national championships for BU over the last few years then?

Gosh you would think they would at least get to the Frozen Four in most of those recent years.

BU is definitely not raking in those kind of bucks through ticket sales. They don't operate at arena capacity (6,221) very often.

Six teams in the B1G with top attendance for 2017-18, but some arenas have higher seating capacity than others (i.e. Ralph/11, 634, Kohl/15,359). Cap.% is a good indicator in measuring the health of a fanbase. Shocked to see OSU @ 30.5% capacity last season with a total seating capacity of 17,500. But it landed them in the #9 spot in total attendance.

UND stayed at the highest attendance mark again with near full capacity despite their 17-13-10 overall record in 2017-18. They lost only five of 21 home games (10-5-6).

Most teams on the 2016-17 list lost capacity% in 2017-18.

          Interesting, SteveO, thanks for posting.

Any predictions on what the Gophers' Capacity % will be in 2018-19? One would hope they will reverse the recent downward slide, at least a little, with the new coach. Of course it mostly depends on their win/loss record, which should be improved from last season's 19-17-2 and 5th place finish in the B1G.

I think you're right here on the W/L record.

We'll most likely see a small inc. in attendance from fans checking out how Motzko and his staff run the team. Wisconsin saw a nice attendance spike in the 2016-17 season after they hired Granato. But they were not a true contender last season.

Ticket prices may still be a deterrent for some fans though. But I think the bottom line is still riding on their on-ice performance for the coming season.

If the Gophers start consistently winning, I think fans will start buying into the new regime and attendance numbers will climb back over the next couple seasons. We saw that spike with DU last season on the heels of their NC in 2016-17 or Ohio State who had their highest W% in 34 years last season.

                It's almost always "tickets sold."

It's very possible these are not "scanned" tickets, but UND website claims their 7th consecutive season leading attendance total is fans "passing thru the gates".

I dislike total attendance, due to the massive variance in size of arenas. I prefer capacity attendance. Example: 4000 in a 4400 arena > 7000 in a 10000 arena.

You mean percentage? I'd guess UND has gone from 101% (Minny students who will sneak in and stand to see good hockey) at the old Ralph to 9? percent at the new.

And UND hockey fans are completely comfortable with that, having left the metrosexual look behind a decade ago and thoroughly embraced sexual ambiguity as a form of cultural expression. But we always pack Carhartt when we cross the Red.
