Re: Northeastern Huskies 2017-18 Season Thread Part II: My Dog's Better Than Your Do
Get some perspective. This program has made 6 NCAA tournaments and 2 of them have come since 2016. We lost a close games to a Frozen Four team. It is what it is.
We also have a great recruiting pipeline and top recruits from Mass. picking us over the Comm Ave. powerhouses. Adam Gaudette is from Braintree and he came here instead of BU or BC, that would NEVER have happened 10 years ago.
We've had three Hobey finalists in the past 4 years and are pumping out NHL players. The signs are pointing up.
Sikura went from 11 scratches as a freshman to 110 points in 2 seasons. ZAR went from meh to Hobey finalist. Gaudette went from 30 to 60 points in three years. Would not shock me to see someone like Filipe or Hawkins explode out of nowhere and we have Tyler Madden coming in who is PPG nearly as a USHL rookie.
The game vs. Mich is a one-game sample size. The last 4 seasons have beem a MASSIVE accomplishment after Cronin left. Madigan has the program in a better spot than it ever was under Cronin, whose best team choked in the Beanpot and blew two-goal leads in the NCAAs and HEA Tournament.
