I agree. A very well-run pick ‘em. I’ve really enjoyed playing this year.

BGSURICK correctly guessed 54 SOGs for the weekend and pocketed an additional 10 bonus points. Roll Along, Rick!! beaverhockeyfan currently clings to a 4 point lead over Laker Dude and Birds of a Feather for the last playoff spot. Six weeks left -- plenty of points out there for the taking. Anybody's ball game.

Slight change in the bonus this week. If it's confusing, post your question and I'll respond.

Note: The Saturday Bemidji/North Dakota ended in a tie and the score sheet showed no 3-on-3 or shootout. If this is correct, no points are awarded for that game. If I have the results wrong, let me know an I'll update for next week.

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm enjoying running it. I invited the BG guys who post on AZZ to play along which has added a few more regulars to the mix.

            Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2017-2018

There have been a couple questions on this week's bonus. Here are some examples.

If the GWG on Friday night was scored at 12:43 (scoreboard clock in the arena reads 7:17) of the second period and the GWG on Saturday night was scored at 17:10 (scoreboard clock in the arena reads 2:50) of the first period then the average time of the out-of-conference GWG is:

(32:43 + 17:10) / 2 = 24:57 which equates to 24 minutes when rounded down to the nearest minute. Those who picked average times of 20 minutes through 28 minutes would pocket bonus points.

If the GWG on Friday night was scored at 12:43 (scoreboard clock in the arena reads 7:17) of the second period and the GWG on Saturday night was scored at 17:10 (scoreboard clock in the arena reads 2:50) of the third period then the average time of the out-of-conference GWG is:

(32:43 + 57:10) / 2 = 44:57 which equates to 44 minutes when rounded down to the nearest minute. Those who picked average times of 40 minutes through 49 minutes would pocket bonus points.

If you want to change your picks, go ahead and submit another entry. I will use your latest entry.

                Re: WCHA Pick 'Em 2017-2018

The winner of week 15 was BGSURICK who posted 37 points this week and put himself back in the hunt for the final playoff spot. Speaking of final playoff spot, Laker Dude holds a slight edge over UAFIceAngel via tiebreaker #2 with Birds of a feather lurking only one point back. Minnesota State won both OOC games scoring the GWG at the 6:14 mark of the second period (Pick 'Em time of 26:14) on Saturday and at the 17:24 mark of the second period (37:24) Tuesday. According to Excel, the average GWG time was 31:49 which when rounded down to 31 minutes means BGSURICK was the only player to collect all 10 bonus points this week. Only 10 players picked up at least 1 bonus point. This one was a toughie.

Kudos also go out to Soulbeaver who correctly picked the winners of all 10 games this week. Pick 'Em greatness in action.

The week 16 winner, with a total of 28 points, was giwan (also this week’s winner in Laker Dude’s NCAA Pick ‘Em tourney!). With 4 weeks and 36 games remaining, there are 10 players fighting for those last few playoff spots. At the other end of the standings, there’s a three way dogfight between SweeneyHawksHockey, mbenecke, and Soulbeaver for both the McNaughton Cup and the Mason Cup.

By my count there were 80 penalties called this weekend (that Tech-Ferris series was a real heavyweight bout) with giwan being the only player collecting all 10 bonus points.

This week there will still be 10 bonus points available but there’s a twist. Good luck!

GoNanooks was the week 17 winner with 27 points. For the tri-bonus, there were 23 goals scored by the visiting team, 21 PP and SH goals, and 2 one-goal games. <3_Blizzard, beaverhockeyfan, BGFan, GoNanooks , and USCHO Sean each pocketed 6 bonus points. 21 participants earned at least one bonus point this week.

There are three weeks/26 games left in the regular season. Regular 10-point bonus this week.

Jack Hittinger, WCHA beat writer for USCHO.com, was the week 18 co-winner with 24 points. Jack correctly picked the winner of all 8 games. Congrats, Jack! There were 431 SOGs across all 8 games this week. By guessing 432 SOGs and pocketing 9 bonus points, TalonsUpPuckDown overcame some “challenged” picking this week (as in “what was I thinking?”) to join Jack as this week’s co-winner. BGFan (1), John J. MacInnes (3), and Soulbeaver (3) were the only other players to pick up bonus points this week.

Soulbeaver trails SweeneyHawksHockey by only 1 game in the race for the Mason Cup. Still a 3-way fight between these two and mbenecke for the McNaughton. Looks like 10 are in the hunt for those final few playoff spots.

Two weeks left. Eight games and another 10-point bonus on tap for week 19. Reminder there are two Thursday night games this week.

The penultimate week is in the books with Mich Tech 64 correctly picking the winners of all 8 games and posting the high score of 23. There were so many penalties this week (261) that no one came close to picking up any bonus points. We have some WCHA teams that belong in the Federal League.

This is it. Do or die. Gut check time. Must win situation. The folks on the bubble are still very much alive as long as they’re peaking at the right time. There is no tomorrow. It all comes down to this. 10 games on tap with a 10-point bonus (and it’s one you've seen before!). Lots of toss-up matchups this week that could go either way. Hardware and playoff spots are up for grabs. Thread the needle this week and you could be lauded as one of the Pick ‘Em GOATs.

                              Good luck, everyone!

Going into the final weekend here's a brief rundown on some of the more interesting matchups.

There is a 3-person race for the McNaughton Cup (regular season champion) between SweeneyHawksHockey, soulbeaver, and mbenecke.
For soulbeaver to win the McNaughton Cup:
+ Alabama Huntsville must win on Fri AND
o Lake Superior must win on Sat AND
o Bemidji must win on Sat

For mbenecke to win the McNaughton Cup:
o LSSU must beat FSU on Sat AND
o Governor’s Cup SOGs must be between 92 and 100

SweeneyHawksHockey wins the McNaughton Cup if none of the above happens.

It’s a good ol’ fashioned donnybrook between SweeneyHawksHockey and soulbeaver for the Mason Cup (highest points percentage).
For soulbeaver to win the Mason Cup, at least 2 of the 3 teams below must win:
                                + Fri - Alabama Huntsville
                                o Sat - Lake Superior
                                o Sat - Bemidji State

SweeneyHawksHockey wins the Mason Cup if the above does not happen.

At the other end of the standings, there’s a 3-person dogfight for the last playoff spot between <3_Blizzard, UAFIceAngel, and HockeyJohn.
For UAFIceAngel to make the top 16:
+ Ferris State must win on Friday AND
o Northern Michigan must win on Saturday AND
                                o Governor’s Cup SOG's must be between 110 and 117

For HockeyJohn to make the top 16:
+ Ferris State must win on Friday AND
                                - Michigan Tech must win on Friday AND
                                o Governor’s Cup SOG's must be between 94 and 96

<3_Blizzard makes the playoffs if none of the above happens.

                                Good luck!

Edit -- Hockey John needed Tech to win on Fri, not NMU.
