Re: The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration
You know what I really want in this thread? Since BU isn't like last year's team, I really want a player-by-player report card and analysis of each Terrier from the one and only limey...
You forgot to add in BC's phantom 1940 football title.
Besides the national championship part, no sane BU fan is going to say that BU has an athletic program any where close to BC.
Yes, but in the grand scheme of things, is being less relevant compared to a pretty irrelavent program in its own right really the kind of thing to get worked up about? I'm not sure BC's success (or lack thereof) outside of the sport of hockey really justifies the school's expenditures on those sports.

Other than the whole "it creates national exposure for the school and adds to the quality and enjoyment of student life, while also leading to lots of income and donations to the school" thing.
Let's get real pal. I love hockey and would give up the other sports in a heartbeat, but basketball and football butter the bread. BC gets more attention and money for losing the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl in Boise than winning the hockey national championship. Getting national press and pulling in the ticket and concession money of football and basketball is pretty much what further separates BC in recognition & reputation from a lot of other quality Catholic liberal-arts based schools in the area.
Thus, yes, it matters. It would take someone totally ignorant about Division I athletics to not understand that. Dope.
And considering there are 300ish D1 basketball schools and 119(?) D1A football schools, I'd hardly consider BC's modest accomplishments to be 'irrelevant.' If you weren't blinded by a combination of hatred of BC and ignorance about D1 sports, you'd understand that.
Bitter BU and UMass fans are the only people who think BC athletics are 'irrelevant.' The students from around the country who get excited about BC partly due to athletics, the major TV networks that put BC on multiple times each year, and the general college sports fan who knows about BC athletics and some of the great players the school has produced in major sports would not share your assessment. The difference between BC and BU athletics isn't a matter of degrees, it's an entirely different universe. Period.
I know the season was still young then, but Parker certainly does not agree with you. Both BU and NU played great hockey that night, which is why the win tasted so great.
It's true you were playing without Warsofsky and Bonino. But do you really want to go with that argument against an NU team this year? We seem to have more of our best players injured than we do healthy!
Taking a Jack Parker postgame quote to the media at face value is rarely useful, he always has a hidden agenda. The fact that it was the genesis of your argument ends your argument before it begins, never mind that the game was BU's 6th of the season.
Because some(not all) BU kids wish they could have gotten into BC and now they have an extreme inferiority complex. How else can you explain them chanting "BC sucks" when they score against Merrimack?
As for the Beanpot, BC wins easily while BU beats NU by a goal on a late 3rd period Mike Hewkin defensive mistake. BC beats BU in the final, while all BU fans pretend that the Fenway game was more important to them than the Beanpot.
Same way you can explain sucks to BU shirts at a NU vs UVM game?
You mean the Fenway game you predicted sun and warmth for?
I'm honestly not sure whether I prefer winning Fenway or the Beanpot, they're a similar type of game.
1-2 in HE Semifinals (a double OT loss and last year's loss to the eventual national champion)
0-1 in HE title games (same year BC beat them the following week in a bigger game)
1-2 in a QF series in which BC still went on to the FF
So, BU holds a 5-2 edge in HE tourney matches. BC a 1-0 lead in NCAA tourney matches. 5-3 total in postseason play (cue the jokes). I don't see a huge difference and am not sure it's all that relevant given what BC has been able to accomplish.
Are we really gonna factor in a regular season game at Fenway and a midseason tournament? I don't care all that much about those games.
Point taken on BC having more talent and that they should have won more of these games, but I just don't see the extreme you're seeing.
BC also beat BU in the HE semifinals in 2007 i think, then beat UNH in HE final.........am i remembering that right? maybe 5-1 in that game?? not sure of the score. it was Curry's last game i believe in HE
Same way you can explain sucks to BU shirts at a NU vs UVM game?
Not much to explain with that one since it doesn't happen with the exception of a couple stupid, drunk freshman. Also, there is a difference between 1 or 2 intoxicated freshman and 2 whole student sections chanting "BC sucks".

There's one thing missing in this hilarious rant. Why if your sports programs are so important do your own fans not show up for games. Seems if their sporting events were such momentus occasions, on a national scale, why can't they 1) sell out their home games, or 2) get fans to take a 2 1/2 hour direct flight to watch the conference championship? If your own fans don't even care about their school's sports, why pray tell should the rest of us?

Holy Freddy Meyer! I go one day without posting and we have a 7-page Beanpot flamefest? Well done, ladies, gentlemen and NU fans.
Places I've seen a college hockey game: Agganis Arena, Alfond Arena, Bright Center, Consol Energy Center, Conte Forum, DCU Center, Fenway Park, Gutterson Fieldhouse, Houston Field House, Lawler Arena, Madison Square Garden, Matthews Arena, Mullins Center, Schneider Arena, Scottrade Center, Sears Centre, Tampa Bay Times Forum, TD Bank Sports Center, TD Garden, Tsongas Center, Tully Forum, Verizon Center, Verizon Wireless Arena, Walter Brown Arena, Wells Fargo Center, Whittemore Center

Wrong on both counts, maybe there are 1,2 fans wearing the white I [middle finger] BU shirts, but to pretend that that there aren't many fans who treat the sucks to BU shirts as their hockey game attire is living in denial.
The BC sucks at BU is (in most people's eyes) too prominent, but at the same time:
Yes, I know there is a tickets forum. I rarely ever look there so I figured I might help someone out. I have two tickets in the balcony to sell for face value. I have received other tickets with some friends. Email me through USCHO if interested.
Here we are just hours after this thread was started . . .
. . . and half the posts are from 4 BC guys. Looks kind of pathetic. Where's the confidence, man? I dunno; I'd take your season and its prospects over ours at this point.
