I CAN'T DO THAT EITHER. That was my point. That's why we only went to two of the FIVE MSG games. I was just pointing out that a school like Cornell is always going to have more fans at a "special" event like that, because they all come out of the woodwork. Half of the people that were sitting around us hardly had a clue about hockey - they were there because of the "event."
Why would I come on here and purposely insult UNH fans? Jesus...

Sometimes I wonder what planet I'm living on these days ... really I do.
Too many times, too many of us seem determined to be offended by something/anything.
I love this place, really like all you folks (yeah, even when we disagree) ... can we please leave the social justice warrior starter kits for the gentle snowflakes among us, and just speak freely like adults once in awhile? The "I'm offended by ___ - gotcha" bullcrap gets tiring after awhile, it really does.
I read chickod's comments and bypassed it as just an observation. After seeing the reaction, I asked my two daughters (recent UNH grads) to read his post, and neither was offended. I didn't think they would be. Enough already, please.Sworn Enemy of the Perpetually Offended

As a Maine fan I wouldn't spend a 100 bucks to see Maine and Brown play, I could afford to go but in terms of entertainment value it wasn't worth 50 cents. Maybe UNH fans are smarter than Cornell fans. BTW I have multiple Cornell grads in my immediate family so chill
I swear there ain't no heaven but I pray there ain't no hell.

1. The concentration of Cornell grads in the NYC area
2. The fact that this has become quite the tradition for Cornell, playing there 8 times since 2007. Their coach said something to the effect of "it's much more than a game". It's a big deal for Cornell.
3. The fact that it's a 3+ hour drive to NYC from most parts of NH on a weekend where the tendency is to have people come TO you for the holiday.
4. The fact that we haven't traveled well in years, commensurate with our falling fortunes on the ice (as SB mentions).
But instead he went the FSteve circa 2003 route. Not offensive, just clumsy. Pretty sure people aren't looking to revisit the W-2 wars of yesteryear.
If someone like chickod is going to make a dumb comment, people can and will respond. Nothing screams SJW more than trying to guide the discourse. Let 'em say what they want - don't take offense! 😄Signature line intentionally left blank.

I don't expect us to get past JMU, but yep, I'm pretty pleased to see us advance in the FCS playoffs, as the vast majority of UNH supporters would be.
Who are you pulling for in the D2 playoffs? You can choose from:
Shepherd
North Alabama
North Greenville
California (California of Pennsylvania, that is)
Thanks for checking in.Signature line intentionally left blank.

And you're even wrong about JMU, the Cats will handle them easily, it's Alabama that I'm worri...oh right, that's the "other" Division 1.I went home with a waitress the way I always do

Re: UNH Wildcats 2016-17 -- We're Going to Have a Hockey Season Here!!
When you're playing in the second tier of a certain league/competition, it's fair to refer to it as D-2, no?
In English football (soccer), over the last 20+ years it's gone from this ...
* First Division
* Second Division
* Third Division
* Fourth Division
... to this ...
* Premier League
* League Championship
* League One
* League Two
... but basically it's still 92 clubs spread across the top 4 tiers of the competition.
What is now the "FCS" used to be Division Two, with most of the same schools. Not that complicated.Sworn Enemy of the Perpetually Offended

What is now the "FCS" used to be Division Two, with most of the same schools. Not that complicated.
Until 1973, the NCAA was split into two divisions... University, and College. In 1973, the numerical system was introduced. University division teams went to Division 1. College division teams went to Division 2 if they wanted to offer scholarships, or wanted to play teams that did. Division 3 was reserved for College division members who did NOT want to offer scholarships.
In 1978, Division 1 was then further split into Division 1-A (now FBS), and Division 1-AA (now FCS). (There was actually a "Division 1" as well for D-1 teams that did not play football.)
So no, Division 2 did not become Division 1-AA or FCS. Period.
I will challenge you to answer following questions honestly:
1. If you call ESPN and ask them to guide you to the NCAA Division 2 football championship game, to where will the direct you?
2. Google NCAA Diviaion 2 Football Playoffs and find UNH. Did you find it?
3. Check the USA Today football rankings (in paper or online) and see if UNH appears as a Division 2 team.
4. Go to the NCAA website and search for NCAA Division 2 member schools. Find us?
We both know the answers to these questions. We also know that you are using the D2 jab to poke at Marty and the athletic department.
Is UNH at the second level of college football? Indubitably. Are they in Division 2. Nope.
If you want to keep up the jabbing, go for it. I think the more mature route would be to appreciate the success they are having in the FCS. At least the above facts should clear things up for the crew here (as if it wasn't clear before).
You're right - not complicated.Signature line intentionally left blank.
